Mangalore, Jun 24: Panambur sub-inspector of police Bharathi G and three constables were injured while trying to nab an accused at Baikampady here on the night of Tuesday June 24.

It is said that Bharathi along with her team of constables was in pursuit of Salam, an accused in an attempt to murder case in Moodibidri, when the incident took place.

Three constables who were with Bharathi were also injured, it is learnt.

Speaking to daijiworld, police commissioner R Hitendra said that based on credible information, Bharathi along with three constables had gone to nab Salam at Baikampady. When the SI and the constables surrounded him, he brandished a knife at them. The cops then held his hand to forcibly take the knife, and a tussle ensued during which he attacked Bharathi and the others.

Salam too was injured in the incident.

The injured constables are Chandrahas, Radhakrishna and Sathish.

All of them including Salam were taken to a private hospital, it is learnt.

Speaking to daijiworld, Bharathi said when she and her team were trying to surround the accused, he took out his bullet knife and attacked them even as they tried to hold his hand and snatch the knife. She said that Salam has several cases against him in Moodbidri, Panambur and Suratkal police stations, and is convicted in one case. The court had issued an arrest warrant against him and based on credible information about his whereabouts, her team was out to nab him, she said.

A case is yet to be registered.

I have heard a lot about SI Bharathi. She is a brilliant lady with lot of commitment towards the profession.

If she would have given the independent charge of the murder investigation of my nephew Rohit Radhakrishnan who got brutally murdered in Tannir Bhavi beach road on 21st of March, she would have caught the culprits long ago!
My wishes for Bharathi madam and fellow constables for a speedy recovery.

All criminals will be fairly awarded as per BJP's rules- like in UP.
BJPians putting pressure on the Govt. at the center to award this criminal too....(see the number of requests here)
I am not surprised at all... with this request from them. It is their culture.

What a dramatic happenings towards the police. (two incidents within two days)
Police are now at the receiving end.
Bharati’s bravery is appreciated but in such a situation it is not only the bravery but brain work also need to be applied. Why to wrestle and risk your life. Limited use of the revolver would have saved you from such injuries.

Mangalore : Two youths were assaulted by group of five while they were waiting for bus in Ullaljunction bus stop for allegedly eve-teasing a girl on Saturday, June 21.
UT Khader, health minister visited the victims at the hospital and urged the police commissioner to take strict action against the assaulters. Where was this Khader, when a Hindu was assaulted by a crew of Muslims in Udupi? Did he visit the Hindu Victim when he was in Hospital?
Please tell me who is responsible for creating hatred amongst people of different religions? Being a Minister he could have asked for proper investigation instead how he urged the police commissioner to take strict action against the assaulters.

SI BHARATHI DESERVES APPRECIATION AT THIS MOMENT INSTEAD OF BLAMING COULD HAVE INFORMED HIGHER UPS IN ADVANCE.
GENERALLY HARDCORE CRIMINALS HAVE SUPPORT AT HIGHER LEVELS FOR WHICH THEY PAY HAFTA FROM THEIR LOOT OR FOR THE SAKE OF PAYMENT OF HAFTA ALSO THEY MAY LOOT SOMEBODY.
IF SO SALAM COULD HAVE ESCAPED AND FOR THAT MATTER SHE MIGHT HAVE TAKEN JUNIORS ALONG WITH HER TAKING RISK ON HER LIFE.
THIS IS THE RIGHT PROCEDURE TO AVOID INVOLVEMENT OF HIGHER UP FAVOURING CRIMINALS.

Providing gun to police men is a normal practice in most of the countries but India is a democratic country! Before using a gun, its more important for police to know his religious background then his criminal back ground or else police may face suspension, hunger strike, etc.
No other country gives so much of freedom for speech, demands..etc as India do, even then some people just love to criticize their own Motherland!!

Bharati is well known for her uprightness and efficiency. She is indeed a very strict officer

It is pertinent to emphasize that no police officer or a policeman on duty can be attached by any one and it is a serious offense to lay hands on any trying to discharge the relevant duty. If an individual is aggrieved with the functioning of any police officer or policeman there is always a redress cell in the department.

Hope Bharati and the policemen recover and that justice is rendered to all concerned.

SI Bharathi was once said to be KIRAN BEDI of DK! But what happened?Three Constables and one able officer could not subdue SALAM!

This operation was in the night hence precautionary steps are not taken by the police department.

Accused is hardcore criminal SI should asked for enough reinforcement

SI Bharathi could had been used service rifle's assistance to subdue him.

She know he is an wanted criminal, could be armed and her higher officers should be kept informed before storming as standby and back up.

Well, some are how the issue wrapped up with minimum damage and for that SI Bharathi and Team should be appreciated.

as usual our ismail bhai is with comment. you use gun, you blame that VHP is behind & ask for compensation.
before caste based population counting as planned by minister anjaneya( yesterday's udayavani), first thing to be done is what percentage of criminal activities are by which community people, what is the percentage of tax paid by which community people, what percentage of govt fund is being consumed by which communities.

unless we adopt family planning & support for the child for independent adulthood, india will not improve. governemnet can not feed 10 children of couple as they always remain below poverty line after feeding 10 children ( even though you may own BMW, on paper you can hold BPL ration card)

need of the hour is family planning & teaching moral values to the one or two child of the couple than producing 10 children without "guri" or "guru".

another concern is can female staff handle these hardcore criminals. imagine female defense fighting for country & men home maker.

with caste/gender/politics we are heading for disaster.

other worst thing to be mentioned are human right people & "buddhi (?heena)jeevigalu"

may "GOD" ( I always mean - GOD -is your choice!!!!!) bless all.
