Mangalore, Jun 22: 'Kalakulotsav', a four-day Konkani drama festival by ‘Kalakul,’ was inaugurated at Don Bosco Hall here on Saturday June 22.

Walter Nandalike, founder and managing director of Daijiworld inaugurated the ceremony in a unique way by lighting lamp sticks held by the artistes of Kalakul repertory.

Addressing the gathering Walter Nandalike said, "I could not attend the first shows of 'Bomma' and 'Melya Upranth' dramas which were performed in Dubai. But when I heard the people saying that the dramas were really good, even I wanted to watch. 'Bomma' drama is a super hit drama. Today ‘Madthir Bhagat Singh' drama is going to be performed, and until and unless people come and watch, they will never know what Kalakul is."

He also praised Arun Raj and Christopher D'Souza of Ninasam.

Christopher D’Souza, Eric Ozario, gurkar, Mandd Sobhann and Louis J Pinto, the president, Mandd Sobhann and others were also present.

The third edition of 'Kalakulotsav' Konkani drama festival by 'Kalakul', Konkani's lone theatre repertory, run by Mandd Sobhann, is being held at Don Bosco Hall. 'Madtir Bhagat Singh', portraying the events surrounding the hanging of revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, was beautifully staged on June 21.

'Platform No 3' will be presented on Sunday June 22, 'Golimar Prasang' (play based on the stories by Dr Edward Nazareth) on Saturday June 28 and 'Ticket' on Sunday June 29.

Kalakulotsav is a real feast of Konkani dramas by the Konkani's lone theatre repertory, run by Mandd Sobhann. The two drams staged on 21st and 22nd were excellent. The artists trained here have sharpened their talents of acting and will be of great help to our dramas. We should salute and support the great works being done by Mandd Sobhann to Konkani art and culture.
