Beltangady: Wife arrested for killing husband in drunken stupor

Updated: Jun 22

Beltangady, Jun 22: The investigation into the sudden death of Harish (44) at Panjalbail near Venoor here on the night of Friday June 20 has revealed that he was allegedly killed by his wife Prashantini (21).

Prashantini was arrested after questioning. It is said that both Harish and Prashantini were drunk on the night of June 20 and got into quarrel, resulting in the tragedy.

44-year-old Harish Naik and his 21-year-old wife Prashantini stayed in a rented house at Panjalbail. Both of them were alcoholic, and on Friday night, the inebriated couple got into quarrel. When Harish pulled Prashantini's hair, she pushed him hard against a wall. She then held him by the neck, and allegedly strangled him to death by putting a thin rope around him, it is said.

Prashantini, seeing that her husband had stopped breathing, locked the house and went to his sister Sharada's house and told her that her husband did not get up after falling asleep due to drunkenness. Sharada at once went to check on her brother, but did not find anything suspicious. A doctor was called and Harish's death was confirmed.

Sharada then went to the police station to report the death. Venoor SI Khader and other police personnel who inspected the spot grew suspcious, especially on noticing a wound on Harish's neck and a rope nearby. Circle inspector Lingappa Poojary then arrived at the spot, and after investigation, the murder came to light. The family members were unaware of what had occured, and Prashantini herself feigned ignorance and sat crying with her child on her lap.

Prashantini failed to give any satisfactory explaination to the police regarding the rope. Suspecting foul play, the police took her for questioning and later arrested her.

Harish was an electrician and hailed from Delampuri of Karimanelu. He had married Prashantini from Bajagoli about six years ago when Prashantini was still a minor, but their marriage was registered after she turned 18 and they were living in a rented house. It is said that though they were happy, he had time and again grown suspicious about her fidelity. The couple have a one-and-half-year-old daughter.

Venoor police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Harish's sister Sharada.

Prashantini was later produced in court. Another person who had been taken for questioning was released after it was confirmed that he had no role to play in the murder.

Beltangady: 44-year-old man found dead, foul play suspected

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady

Beltangady, Jun 21: A man died under suspicious circumstances at Venoor here on the night of Sunday June 20.

The deceased has been identified as Harish (44), a resident of Panjalbail.

Following Harish's death, his wife Prashantini and another man were taken by the police for questioning.

The man's identity has not been revealed, but sources said that he was known to the family and used to frequent the couple's house.

It is said that Harish and Prashantini had fallen in love and married a few years ago. The couple has a child.

Though the family said that Harish died of a cardiac arrest, the police suspect foul play as rope and other items were reportedly found near the body.

The exact circumstances that led to his death are not yet ascertained, and post-mortem report is awaited.

Harish was a coolie and hailed from Delampuri, Karimanelu.

A case of unnatural death has been registered. Further investigations are on.

Yes No one saints in this world, one not other mistake all we do, May it's open or hidden
We cannot blame for anyone for this, Humans lustfully taught, evil deeds in heart self responsible to overcome, control or continue in hell
Such a small age,15-16 year what knowledge she had to marry and take responsibility, marriage is not playing game.and their age is like father and daughter, blind crazy love, and addicts in Alcohol

I don't think any of us readers are saints, as long as our spouse is concerned, though we have not gone to the extent of killing him/her.

We surely have erred on our part by nagging on him/her over his/her parents, possessions/lacking, skill/disqualifications, including children inheriting certain bad habits from a particular side. Therefore, please stop being judge-mental because we don't know the reality behind the death of the man (may his soul rest in peace). There is a little girl who will be an orphan without her mother. Remember, they have just one child in their six years of married life which displays a sense of responsibility - we know alcoholics have an army of children behind them and they put the entire blame on divine powers for this growth of their family.

Let us judge ourselves and mend, instead of finding fault with others. There is a law to punish the guilty, we must respect this right to the accused.

Surely not a place for confessions but seems a perfect place to prove that you can clap from one hand. Just like you said to Dr. Kusuma that pubs are full of women but never took into consideration that there is a man too with each woman ?

    Saints... didn't I say so ?

Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment.

It is now the reversed order - The wife killing the husband.

This is what we read in media today - murders - rapes - thefts - road accidents resulting in deaths.

It is time that adequate remedial measures are taken by the concerned authorities to curb these incidents.

Many cases we can see daily like Murder of parents, wife, sister, friend and many close relatives, also the Rape of own daughter, Mother, Sister, Daughter in law and all happens during person is having Alcohol. Unfortunately over Govt instead of banning this Devil piss Alcohol, the politicians and ministers only having alcohol factories, Bars, Shops and all. After the crime happens, when them comes back to the good state, they realize that, they did crime, which is not recoverable. For that only our God Said " Stay away from Alcohol. Because it contains some thing is good, and many things are bad. Bad things are more than good. So do not have it.
