Karkala, Jun 20: An auto rickshaw driver from Belman has put to practice the ideal of lighting up lamps in the lives of those who only imagine of bleak future for them. He has married an orphaned lady, who was under the care of Spoorthidhama Society at Bellur near here.
Larryloida D'Souza (35), an auto driver living in Nadupalke House in Belman near here accepted Anita (28) from Spoorthidhama as his wife through a marriage that was registered in the office of sub-registrar here on Thursday June 19.
The duo exchanged garlands with the blessings of the priests of Attur Church here at the church premises, and D'Souza also tied the Mangala Sutra around Anita's neck as a mark of cementing the lifelong bond of man and wife.
D'Souza opted to work as auto rickshaw driver after completing SSLC. He was desirous of getting married earlier, but he said he could not find a suitable soul-mate as the girls of marriageable age were seen eying grooms having higher financial and societal status, and parents of the girls always craved to find a rich boy for their daughters.
After he made up his mind to marry an orphan, Larryloida's friends supported his idea and wholeheartedly put in efforts to find a suitable girl for him. They went to Spoorthidhama, met its head, Keshava Koteshwar, and talked to him. Larry gratefully admits the cooperation extended by Keshava towards fulfilling his dream.
Keshava Koteshwar then came to Belman and gathered exhaustive information about the prospective groom. Anita gave her consent to the alliance. Larryloida bought golden Mangal Sutra, necklace, sari that suits the occasion of marriage, mobile handset and other things Anita was in need of.
Keshava Koteshwar and others, who attended the simple marriage conducted at Attur church, blessed the couple. This marriage has given kindled rays of hope for orphaned girls that boys with high ideals will extend their hands of loving support to them, duly ignoring the hurdles of religion, status, looks, and such other things.
