Mangalore, Jun 18: One person was electrocuted another injured after coming in contact with a live electrical wire at Melangady here on Tuesday June 17 night.
The deceased has been identified as Rashid (38), from Ullal Kodi. Jaleel, a resident of Manjanady was seriouly injured in the incident and admitted to a hospital in the city.
Though hailing from Ullal Kodi, Rashid had been staying in a rented house at Melangady ever since his marriage. On Tuesday night, when it started raining, water started flowing through a pipe from the terrace on the first floor of the house. In order to let the water out through a plastic pipe, Rashid along with his landlord's relative Jaleel went to the terrace.
As he was bending down over the terrace to fix the plastic on the pipe, he lost balance and fell on the wire of an electric pole. Jaleel at once pulled him up, but Rashid had already succumbed to injuries by then.
Jaleel in a bid to save Rashid sustained grave injuries and was admitted to hospital.
Rashid was a cook by profession. He used to also go to Gujarat for fish trade, it is said. He had returned from Gujarat just 15 days ago. Whenever he found time, he would also work as an assistant cook.
Rashid leaves behind his parents, wife and three children.
