Sullia, Jun 17: Nagappa (70), who allegedly shot dead his daughter-in-law following a quarrel with his son at Subramanya here on Saturday June 14, is learnt to have been hiding in the forest ever since!

It was initially reported that Nagappa had been arrested soon after the incident, however, it was later learnt that Nagappa had in fact fled the spot along with the murder weapon.

Nagappa was said to be constantly at loggerheads with his son over property issue. After his wife's death some years ago, Nagappa lived with his son Uday and daughter-in-law Vidya. However, Nagappa used to habitually get drunk and create trouble at home, and unable to bear it anymore, Uday moved out with his wife and built a house for himself next to his father's house. This led to constant fights between father and son, to the point that on Friday June 13 Nagappa reportedly threatened to kill Vidya. The next day, hours after his son filed a complaint with the police, Nagappa went to his house, and not finding him there, allegedly shot dead his daughter-in-law.

It is learnt that Nagappa, soon after the incident, escaped from the spot and took refuge in the woods. Ever since then, armed with his gun, Nagappa has been hiding in the forest. Though he was said to have been spotted, locals fear to confront him as he is armed. There is also a suspicion that he might next plan to shoot his son.

Locals claimed that they heard gun shots on Sunday night and on Monday, reportedy fired by Nagappa. The police too are yet to catch him. It was suspected that the gun shots may be of Nagappa killing himself, but a thorough search by the locals and the police did not bear any result. The police then returned to town and came back with guns, and along with the locals, they waited for him at places he was most likely to pass through. However, that plan too failed.

Interestingly, the locals said that Nagappa knows every inch of the forest, and on a previous occasion he had gone into the forest threatening to end his life. He had fired in the air to make everyone believe he had died, only to return home after a few hours.

Place in the prison only if he is still surviving and going to be caught alive. Most probably he has already reached final destination.

As on now Nagappa looks like criminal in everyone's eye...

But this old man must have really suffered due to negligence from his own son, who played on his lap for years. This cruel son has even made another house leaving father alone. nagappa would have gone to court against his son for abondoning father. But Nagappa like most of us lost faith in the speedy delivery of justice. As he could not wait anymore due to his old age, he took law in his hand, as he has nothing to loose. The gain is ha can now eat food everyday at jail.. earier he may not be even having it as he was abandoned..

Good lesson to all those who abandon parents.

you made us to think for a while. Yes, true. Parents may feel all these when they start feeling their children are moving away from them. Not sure in this case. May be his frustration might have pushed him to take this step. but not acceptable at any cost. Forcibly looking for something, will never be respected. killing his own daughter-in-law yielded nothing than making him a criminal now. Hatred will be more by his son on Nagappa. So, lesson is , accept the fact and make your life. Never get in to crime. Crime will never pay off.

we talk about Indo Pak War threatening Pak that we are capable of any kind of situation. Here is a small joker who is hiding in forest and our police force returned empty handed , giving reason he is armed. how stupid is the situation. No wonder some other persons get inspired with such incidents where whole force is scared of a person who is armed. Come on... just make a force entry and ute him on the spot. Hope it will not be too late as his next target could be his son.

sad...old age, lonliness, feeling lonely, mental instability, rejection from children. what else these senior citizens can do at the age of 70. It would be better to compromise with the generation gap and consider parents sacrifice, instead police complaints etc. No family is perfect… we argue, we fight. ... But in the end, family is family
