Mangalore, Jun 16: Repercussions relating to a fight between two groups on Sunday near Innoli Dharmanagar in Boliyar village near Ullal continued to be felt on Monday June 16 too.

Reportedly, Kotyappa poojary, who had brought his cow for tethering near Shailesh Rai's residence, was assaulted by the latter, angered by the fact that the latter had volunteered to act as witness to a case in which Kishore from the village was injured.

When Sundari, wife of Kotyappa Poojary, rushed to the rescue of her husband, Shailesh is said to have hit her hand with a sword and a cudgel. Jayashree, who tried to shield her father, Kotyappa, was also hit in her head and neck. Divyashree, daughter of Kotyappa's brother, also suffered injuries to her waist. All the injured were hospitalized, but Jayashree was kept in the intensive care unit taking into account the nature of her injuries.

With this, the number of persons who have suffered injuries, has gone up to seven, including Veerendra Marla and his brother, Vinay Marla, who belong to the other group.

Hatred between these two groups erupted after Shailesh and his friend, Veerendra Marla, objected to the action of Kishore and his friends in catching fish with fishing rods from river Netravati by the side of Shailesh's house. Although the incident died down after exchange of strong words, friction was ignited again when Veerendra started an argument with Kishore and his friends, when they were walking by the side of his home in the evening. A fight using clubs and swords ensued, leaving Veerendra and his brother, Vinay, were injured. Kishore sustained serious injuries in this skirmish, while his friends, Ranjith and Devaraj, suffered minor injuries. Veerendra's father, Anand Marla, was also injured.

In a complaint filed in Konaje police station later, Veerendra had named local BJP leader, Satish Acharya, although the latter was not present at the spot during the trouble, it is said. Shailesh is said to have been identified with the Congress party.

The locals blamed the police of allowing Shailesh to go scot free at night after arresting him on Sunday morning, thereby providing him an opportunity to foment trouble again. It is gathered that Shailesh posed life threats to Satish Achaqrya and Harish Acharya, who had visited the police station relating to the incident along with Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Prashant Gatti. Gatti thereafter filed a complaint in connection with this incident.

Shailesh was arrested again. Investigation is progressing.
