Moodbidri, Jun 14: A mass job placement drive 'Brahut Udyoga Mela 2014' was held by Alva’s Education Trust began on Saturday June 14.
Assistant labour commissioner Dr H B Sripad inaugurated the placement drive. “The aim of the placement drive is not only to obtain jobs but also to help candidates face challenges in the corporate world. It also enables us to know the problems encountered. It is not sufficient to obtain a degree in education. If one develops craftsmanship, the ability to analyze and solve problems will increase and better employment opportunities will be accessible to the individual,” he said.
“When one studies, he should not be depressed or acquire vices but concentrate on studies. A lot of information is available over the internet on a global level and it is possible to secure degrees on an international level. If the facility is used, it is possible to be in touch with international companies,” said Sripad.
Tulasi Maddineli, chief executive of zilla panchayat, who was the chief guest, said that placement drives are platforms between job-seekers and companies. “We should realize that besides the struggle of our parents, the contribution of society has become a part of our
studies. One should not be disheartened if one does not find jobs, but continue trying,” he said.
Former minister K Amarnath Alva participated as the chief guest. Dr M Mohan Alva, president, Alva’s Education Trust, gave the keynote address and said that the placement drive is a fest similar to ‘Alva’s Virasat’ and ‘Alva’s Nudisiri’.
“A total of 35 companies have recruited about 1,000 candidates for employment. Though placement drives are held in large cities, the participation of the educated from the rural areas is very little. The present placement drive is being held to enable the participation of rural
people and 200 to 225 companies have participated in this. The job-seekers will also be provided information online,” he said.
Vivek Alva, trustee of Alva’s Education Trust, was present. Professor Kurien, principal, Alva’s College, welcomed. Placement official Professor Alexander introduced the guests. Professor Deepa Kottari compered the programme.
