Doha, Jun 13: Prakashchandra Ajila, a prominent member of the Karnataka expatriate community and former president of Tulu Koota Qatar, has been unanimously elected the second president of Bunts Qatar. He was elected during the association's annual general body meeting held at the Indian Cultural Center (ICC) Bangalore Hall Doha, Qatar recently.
The AGM was chaired by the outgoing president Ravi Shetty. Qatar Billawas president and past president of Tulu Koota Qatar Divakar Poojary was the returning officer.
The MC of the event, charismatic and talented Akshatha Hegde delivered the opening remarks and presented a brief introduction of Bunts Qatar.
Outgoing president Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering and presented a brief report of Bunts Qatar activities during his tenure. He thanked the executive committee, sponsors, volunteers and all members of the Bunts Qatar for their tremendous support during his tenure. He thanked every member and those of special needs committee in particular who have contributed and helped to address positively every appeal received from genuine, distressed segments of society. He appreciated the contributions of Bunts Qatar ladies and children in keeping Bunts Qatar as one cohesive unit. He also thanked all other associations for their cooperation.
Outgoing treasurer Dhanajay Shetty presented the audited financial report which was later approved by the members. The first session came to an end after Ravi Shetty dissolved the existing committee and handed over the stage to the returning officer Divkar Poojary who announced the approved nominations of 8 office-bearers and the only nomination for the post of the president.
Newly-elected president Prakash Ajila who has vast experience in leading the Association successfully, in his address assured all the fellow-community members of extending every possible help to the needy members of their community and also emphasized the importance of extending all their support to the associated organization. With this as one of the main objectives of the forum, Bunts Qatar every year recognizes and honors a deserving community worker in the name of 'Seva Sampada' for the outstanding selfless community service among the Karnataka expatriate community members in the State of Qatar. Divakar Poojary (2011), Milan Arun (2012) and Sridhar Naik (2013) have been the recipients of this Award for their tireless contribution to the society .
The event concluded after Navneeth Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
