Mangalore: Compound wall collapses at Kannur, two girls injured

Mangalore, Jun 12: Two teenage girls were injured after the compound wall of their house at HS Nagar, Kannur here collapsed in the early hours of Thursday June 12.

Sunaina (18) and Shamshad (16), daughters Yasin and Mumtaz, were injured in the incident that took place at around 2.30 am.

It is said that the when the family members were asleep, the compound wall of their house collapsed all of a sudden and fell on the house. The wall of the house in turn caved in, injuring Sunaina and her sister Shamshad.

However, as the place where the house is located is in the interiors with no approach road, the girls could not be rushed to hospital immediately. On the morning of June 12, after 9 am, the girls were carried for about half a kilometre to the main road and then taken to Wenlock hospital.

Yasin is a coolie and three months ago, he had shifted from Kasba Bengre with his family to a rented house at Kannur.

Corportor Sudhir Shetty, and officials Ashok D K, Ganapathy and Gangadhar visited the spot. The police are yet to arrive.
