Mangalore, Jun 11: Passengers of Yeswanthpur - Karwar Express were stranded for several hours at Mangalore junction here on Wednesday June 11.
The train that entered the station at 7.30 am remained grounded until past noon.
The station master said that the train halted due to problems with the signal.
An official, who spoke in Tamil, said that three trains, including from Mumbai and Goa, were to enter into the station at the same time on a single line. Hence, to give way to the other trains, the Yeswantpur-Karwar train was halted.
A passenger, annoyed with the unexpected delay, said that it was high time action was taken to prevent such incidents and hoped that the new union minister for railways D V Sadananda Gowda would do something about it.
Taking the opportunity to express their unhappiness over the railway junction, the people who gathered there said that earlier there were three display machines showing train timings, but now there was only one. The taxi drivers complained about the unclean toilets.
Some said that there was information available in Kannada and that most of the staff and officials at the station did not know the local language.
