Salian had been admitted into a private hospital in the state's capital, after suffering extensive injuries in a car accident that occurred at Channarayapatna in Hassan district on Friday June 6.
Eshwar, who had performed his daughter's marriage during April, and had bought a new Innova car, had begun his journey in this vehicle along with family members on Friday morning towards Bangalore. He wanted to spend time with his newly married daughter and son-in-law, and was carrying different things that his daughter needed to set up her newly acquired home.
The car, which was driven by Eshwat's son, Rakshit, hit a truck moving ahead at Channarayapatna. Eshwar, his son, wife, and a relative, who were travelling in the car, suffered serious injuries. While the others showed improved, Eshwar, who showed some progress in health condition on Sunday night, developed complications on Monday morning and breathed his last.
It is learnt that but for the timely help rendered by former minister, H D Revanna, who passed through the accident site sometime later, the injured would have languished on the road for long, as no help came their way. Revanna ensured that the family got first aid at Adichunchanagiri Hospital before being shifted to Jain Hospital in Bangalore. Minister, U T Khadar also extended help to the family at Bangalore, it is gathered.
As he had earlier registered his wish to donate his eyes, Eshar's eyes were donated through a hospital in Bangalore.
Eshwar had functioned as the president of Billava Sangha, Ashok Nagar in the city for several years, and had got involved with various social, cultural, and religious organizations.
