Hamsa Dhwani musical evening rocks Udupi

Udupi, Jun 9: RK Group, Udupi and Syndicate Bank staff co-operative society jointly organized the 500th celebration of Hamsa Dhwani group with a musical evening on Saturday June 7 at Town Hall, Ajjarkad.

The Hamsa Dhwani group, Udupi delighted the audience with a musical treat accompanied by live orchestra directed by Kalaratna Kishore Kumar.

B Jayakar Shetty, general manager, Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society, addressed the gathering and said, "Yashodamma, the mother of Kishore Kumar, contributed a lot to society by popularising bhajans and rituals. I wish to see you complete 1000 celebrations in future and achieve all success."

Ramakrishna Nayak of R K Textiles presided over the programme.

The programmes comprised music, dance and various fun-filled events by singers and dancers of national and international fame.

The programme began with the distribution of sweets to the attendees. The musical evening included yesteryear's Kannada, Tulu and Hindi songs along with the patriotic songs. The vibrant and colourful atmosphere had the audience in rapt attention throughout. The most excited dances were by little Tanushri, Shruthikiran and the Sufalitha Subhashit dance team.

It was a delightful treat to watch young children perform on stage with such ease and grace. Almost 800 people attended the programme.

The programme also included spot prizes for the gathering through lucky draw.

Kishore Kumar is an active and multi-talented person; and presently works at Syndicate Bank. The team included a variety of skills. Ramakanth sung many lyrical lines melodiously. Prem Kumar, the host for the evening, entertained the audience with his occasional Hindi shayaris.

Shruthi Shriraj charmed the audience with her beautiful voice and also compered the programme. Sangeetha Baalachandra, a popular singer not only in Karnataka but also outside the state rendered many songs. The musicians blended well with the singers.

Ranjan Kalkur of Kalkur Builders, Balagangadhar Rao, president of Syndicate Bank, Harish Engineer of Malavika associates and Muralidhar Ballal of Ballal Finance and Investment were also present.
