Bahrain: 12 singers move into semi-finals of GVOM-4

Bahrain, Jun 9: The much anticipated preliminary round of Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) season 4 for Bahrain contestants was held at Papillon Auditorium here on Friday June 6.

Aspiring and talented singers from Bahrain lightened up the evening with some scintillating performances.

Six singers each from male and female categories were selected by the panel of judges.


Singers who qualified for semi-finals in female category in order of points scored are:

Teena Roshan D'Souza
Larisa Janice Miranda
Lynet Vas
Evita Fiona Sequeira
Melba Martis
Susan Monica Miranda


Semi-finalists in male category:

Winston Preetham Aranha
Christopher Lobo
Ronald Fernandes
Vijeth Cliston D'Silva
Francis Lobo
Ivan Sequeira


The contest started at 6 pm by selecting the singing sequence through lots.

Jovita D'Silva and Ashlyn Castelino performed welcome dance.

Henry D Almeida, convenerof Konkni Kutam welcomed the gathering. In his address, Almeida said, "It is indeed a great opportunity for aspiring and budding singers to be able to showcase their talents on such a huge platform.

The contest was judged by a panel of well-known and celebrated judges from Bahrain.

The jury comprised Swebert Mascharenhas, a well-known musician from the popular 'Aryan Fame' band and who has played for the top Goan band 'Renegade'; Sonia Prabhu, a popular singer and guitarist who runs her own ‘Harmony School of Music’; and Minino Fernandes, a well-known musician, singer, and community leader of Bahrain Konkani Church group.

The semi-finals will be held at Ban Saeng Thai hall on September 26 from 5:30 pm onwards.

The programme was compered by noted emcee Walter Dantis.

Steven D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

    Congratulations to the winners and also the participants. Happy to see that Melba Martis is in Semi- Finals. I have listened to her singing and she has a lovely voice.. All the best Melba for semi-finals.Kudos to Konkani Kutam Bahrain for organizing one more successful event.

    Really great programme. Singers were given songs suitable to their voice. In between break/intervals noted singers from bahrain rendered some foot tapping oldie numbers like Sophia, dudhi kuvalo rompo ani kanghi, late enasam composed elethin bai kasmir baab etc...etc..Really great job by Konkani kutam bahrain.
