Mangalore, Jun 8: Tension prevailed at the district jail here on Sunday June 8, when the undertrials launched an attack at policemen and jail staff, opposing the shifting of two alleged criminals to another jail.

Faisal and Falak, said to be notorious criminals, were to be shifted to Dharwad jail on Sunday. When the Barke police along with ACP and the jail officials were about to get the two out of their cell, the other undertrials who were present their began attacking the officials.

It is said that nearly 25-30 undertrials grew angry with the police for shifting Faisal and Falak to Dharwad jail, and began attacking them. They also threw a TV, eggs, tomatoes, chilli powder, glass items and whatever they could lay their hands on.

As a result, four police officials, including ACP Tilakchandra, SI Shariff, inspector Maledevar were seriously injured and rushed to Wenlock hospital.

Some of the KSRP staff were also injured, it is learnt.

A few undertrials too sustained injuries, and sources said some of them inflicted injuries on their bodies themselves so as to get out of the prison.

Due to the incident, Falak and Faisal were shifted back into the district jail.

Speaking to reporters, police commissioner R Hitendra said that the incident took place when the police were about to shift Falak and Faisal from the district jail to Dharwad jail. Faisal and Falak demanded to know why they were being shifted and what mistake they had committed. Soon, arguments arose and the other undertrials came to the duo's support and the verbal arguments snowballed into an attack, he said, adding that four officials, other staff and some of the undertrials were injured in the incident.

How they could get TV, Glass items, Eggs and Chilli Powder? This shows that they were left to have anything. First of all there should not be any lenience and this matter should be viewed seriously and should not be tolerated. Book and Bang them, as they could do anything to common people, if they could do to the police. Do not show any mercy to them.

This is bound to happen, if the criminals/under-trials treated as prince.
Give them the real treatment in such a way that from day one they cannot walk straight.

This is a clear case of unlawful act. If the criminals can commit crime on police inside jail, how safe are common citizens.
Getting those two criminals back to Mangalore jail is spinelessness act.
Why Mangalore jail is so favorite for criminals? What are the extra privileges criminals get here? Is this one of those place to visit before die?

Is it necessary to provide TV facility to under trials in the prison ? Also, how they could get chilli powder in the prison. May be they have pre-planned their action in advance. Now police have to be on the vigil for any such future encounters.

It clearly shows how physically fit our cops are. Besides accepting bribes and harassing the common poor people what do these bxxxxds do. 6 months down their service , they develop pot bellies and move around with great difficulty. I am not surprised, I guess if it was somewhere on the street the cops would have been seriously injured or even dead.
