No move by Centre to form Cauvery Management Board: Ananth Kumar

Bangalore, Jun 7 (PTI): The Centre has no proposal to constitute the Cauvery Management Board, which Tamil Nadu is pressing for but is being opposed by Karnataka, Union Chemicals and Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar said today.

"Today morning I have spoken to Union Water Resource Minister Sadvi Uma Bharti, there is no such proposal in the Water Resource Department," Kumar told reporters here in the wake of media reports about the Centre's move on the CMB.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had strongly pitched for CMB during her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, but her counterpart in Karnataka Siddaramaiah has opposed CMB.

Karnataka's contention is that since civil appeals against the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal filed by riparian Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are pending in the Supreme Court, no move should be made to form CMB.

Siddaramaiah, who has announced that an all-party delegation would be taken to Modi on the issue, said in Mysore today he has sought an appointment on June 10 for the meeting.

Stating that central ministers from the state are kept in the loop, he said he has convened a meeting of floor leaders of Assembly here on 9 June to discuss the issue.

Kumar said, "Cauvery Management Board will be constituted, it should be constituted, all these are nothing but speculations; there is no base for such speculation and such proposal is also not there."

"Siddaramaiah had met me and Sadananda Gowda (Railway Minister) last week, both of us along with Siddeshwara (MoS Civil Aviation) and all our MP's have told him very clearly that we are committed to the interest of people of Karnataka," he said.

Kumar said that after the President's address on June 9, "I along with Sadananda Gowda, Siddeshwara, Prahlad Joshi (state President) and all our MP's will meet Prime Minister. "We will brief him about Karnataka's interest relating to Cauvery water issue," he added.

Shakuni Mama - you have no courage to go against the wishes of Modi, because you know very well that as you are Advani's man Modi will not hesitate to throw you out of the cabinet at the slightest pretext.

It appears lot of political interest being involved for some gains. Three is already Supreme court directions which is to be followed by the both parties, hence no need of any committee which can not be enforceable and not right also while the case is in the court.

Mr. Abdul Rafiq, BJP doesn't need any power or support for another 10 years. I don't think any party would come close to topple this government as long Mr. Modi is at the top. He should have come to that position five years back.

Dear Fernandis, anything can be happened at any time in this world. We are human beings, not decision makers. Time will decide. No need anybody topple the Modi govt. His dynasty will be collapsed one day automatically.

..Bhagwan is mehabhan on MODI..if he intentionally did some thing wrong, he couldnt have achieved this position..he faught all odds..whole Govt machinary, media, NGOs worked against him..look at him now..whole nation, whole world astonished with his achievment..even if he loose chair tomorrow no big deal..he showed what a common man can achieve with dedication..It is better for our good to stop believing in propaganda. it said in Holybook "whenever such [a rumour] is heard, think the best of one another and say, “This is an obvious falsehood”? ..When you take it up with your tongues, uttering with your mouths something of which you have no knowledge, you deem it a light matter. Whereas in the sight of God it is an awful thing! it will be accounted for'..

It looks like BJP will try to
live upto the interests of Karnataka for it has strong base there.

Like all, they too are interested in themselves.

In T.N. it doesn't have strong base nor in Kerala. So logically Karnataka would be favoured.

Jaya Lalitha's value based support to Modi is to move mischievous constitution of CMB.Better if she remain bit distance to Central Govt the less headache. She has been doing politics in the name of CAVERY WATER SHARING ISSUE.For TN politicians cutting party lines CAVERY issue is life line. Therefore, in Karnataka also politicians/Lawmakers/MPs need to unite when Cavery issue crops up.

    Hi ISMAIL.K.PERINJE,

You mentioned "all political parties of Karnataka" to be united". But this is difficult in Karnataka. We are all brothers of the same district but still not united in the matter of "Eththina Hole". Example: Dakshina Kannada Kuvara Moily's press conference few days back in Chickballapur.

One aspect is that within the state and apart from that did you see any religious (community)leaders(I do not want to mention their name) issued strong statement against ETTHINA HOLE PROJECT? No....But some did ADDA GODE YA MELE DEEPA ITTANTHE!!!!
