Mangalore: Patient bites nurse's chest during examination

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jun 6: In a bizarre and shocking incident, a patient in a city's private hospital allegedly misbehaved with a nurse and bit her chest, causing injuries.

The incident reportedly took place a month ago, but came to light only after the nurse filed a complaint against the patient.

It is said that the nurse who was examining the patient was about to shift him to the ward by wheelchair, when all of a sudden he lunged at her and bit the left side of her chest.

The nurse suffered injuries and was taken away for treatment. It is learnt that the nurse underwent much mental trauma after the incident.

It is well known that malpractices are rampant among medical practitioners. This has resulted in people losing respect on them. But generalizing the things is wrong. The misbehavior is condemn-able.

One must really appreciate the Nurses for their services. You may find in most of the nurses being hospitable. One being astute to these nurses is not just unfair but a serious assault in this case.

This kind of crime should be severely dealt with. Doctors and nurses do a noble job looking after the interests of the patients. It is therefore extremely important that they be respected.

A crime like biting a nurses chest is like biting the hand that feeds. Hope all concerned take this very seriously and ensure that appropriate action is taken.

    Mr. Joe,
First let them ascertain why the patient was admitted....
    Surgical.
    Medical.
    Dental.
    Mental.
Last 2 cases there is no cause for complaint.
    As mental cannot be charge-sheeted
Dental would not have the teeth to do so.
SO LETS WAIT THE DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE .

R.Bhandarkar, M'lore. What would u do if your dear one was the victim? would you still ask people to imagine if the victim was Sunny Leone. Dear, the nurses are doing selfless services and what reward they get in return around the world is they are either abused or are victims of uncultured people.

Now let's be natural nay think practical. The urge to bite is there in almost every person.
The 'area of preference' differs that's all.
For some it's just simmering in others 'overflowing' and all that.'Bitomania' or something, I think this is called akin to a 'latent talent'.
Nurses in general are most vulnerable to such attacks because 'latent talent' prevails in most patients.

Not necessarily biting a nurse whose profession is noble but tell me
is there any person who has not 'bit' in his life time? Except from some very renowned saints, sages, masters from a very very tender age I do not think there are any . This is not 'Bokwaas'..
    Asondee Kanchoi Baas
    Sakdaan Galla Gaas

If the patient still in the hospital the Doctor who treats him should pull out all his teeth , if it is denture pull out and throw it away. Then only the rabid patient will understand that what is has done is wrong. Otherwise in future he will become a rapist.

Very unfortunate incident! She should have reported incident at the same time so that the DNA sample on his teeth proven him guilty.
Now police may ask the culprit to bite the nurse again to match the teeth impression..

    AF,

The day you will be humiliated by attacking your private parts, you assume how soon you will run to a doctor ?

This nurse is not having fun but doing a very noble profession. Imagine the world without nurses - can you ?

Whether mentally stable or otherwise, strict action should be taken against the patient.

I hope the nurse has taken preventive doses for rabies !

    Hello Lydia madam
i do respect the nursing profession,
my point here is that the culprit must be taken into the custody immediately if she or other staff nurse/ doctor would have complained, if that patient is mentally fit then some one would have removed his some teeth to remember for a long time.
