Mangalore, Jun 3: The newly-built Kavoor police station was inaugurated here on Tuesday June 3 by minister for forest, environment and ecology and district incharge Ramanath Rai.

Minister for sports and youth services Abhaychandra Jain, MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava, police commissioner R Hitendra, SP Dr Sharanappa, ward corporator Deepak Poojari, corporator Shashidhar Hegde and others were present during the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Ramanath Rai said, "Mangalore city is developing day by day and even crime is increasing along with the development. To control crimes, we need police. These days, crime rate is increasing rapidly, hence the people of Mangalore should support the police and also help them in finding solutions.

"Catching criminals is not a easy job, police have to work hard in some of the cases and at the same time they have to keep protect the city," he added.

Police commissioner R Hitendra said that the police personnel who are going to work in the new police station should earn the respect and trust of the people by doing their duty sincerely and promptly. "Police have to fight for justice and give security to the people. There are three more police stations in Dakshina Kannada that are in rented buildings. Just as Kavoor police station has been built in the heart of this area, the other three police stations should also be built in the same way," he said.

R Hitendra also requested the ministers and the MLA to help the department in finding a good place for the three police stations.

Minister Abhaychandra Jain noted that the new police station is spacious which would enable the personnel to work better. "Mangalore is not a small city, it has everything, and so also Moodbidri, which has famous colleges, hospitals, temples and much more. Students come from various places to study in Moodbidri, and hence it needs better police security."

Jain also requested police commissioner R Hitendra to give more importance to Moodbidri.

MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava congratulated the police department on the newly-built Kavoor station and advised the officers to work for the people.

Now that the police station is inaugurated, we need someone to inaugurate the lock up as well, like in the movie 'andaz apna apna' . Frankly speaking , all these politicians qualify for the same!
