Mumbai, June 3: Deeksha is girl who secured 605 (96.5%), studying in a Kannada medium school without even having external support from tutions.
She is basically from Palimar; her father Suresh Poojary is a painter and mother Geetha Poojary is a beedi labourer; the whole family is struck by poverty. It is laudable that Deeksha has achieved good marks.
Palimar Government High school had secured 100% result last year but this year secured has secured 90%. Among the 40 appeared for the exam, two are distinctions and 21 first class pass. Deeskha has secured 124 in Kannada, 96 in English, 98 in Hindi, 95 in Mathematics, 97 in Science and 95 in Social Studies.
Want to be an engineer
Speaking to the media, Deeksha says that she is very happy about her results. She said, "I was expecting 610, but a bit sad that I got five marks less. We are financially very poor. Even though my mother was not keeping well, she did not allow me to do any work. My father also supports me a lot. I can never forget the support which my teachers gave me. I wish to take up science in PU and be an engineer." She is also interested in music and oration. She has achieved laurels in Prathiba Karanji.
