Mangalore: Omni transporting stolen cow hits bike, driver escapes; two injured

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jun 2: An Omni that was reportedly being used to illegally transport a cow rammed into a two-wheeler at Majalthota, Munnur in Ullal near here on Sunday June 2. As people gathered at the accident spot, the driver of the Omni escaped leaving the vehicle behind.

Gattikudru resident Rolan who was riding the two-wheeler, and his wife Sunita who was riding pillion, were injured in the accident.

The brand new Omni that was yet to get registration number, was being used to transport a cow reportedly stolen from Fajir Govanitashraya. On the way to Thokkottu, the driver lost control and rammed into Rolan and Sunita who were riding from Kuthar to Eliyarpavau.

Rolan and Sunita who sustained injuries were admitted to a hospital in Thokkottu.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Omni tried to get the animal out of the vehicle and tie it up. Just as he was doing so, locals began to gather at the spot. Fearing that he would be caught, he fled from the spot and managed to escape.

The Ullal police arrived at the spot and took the Omni and the animal into their possession.

Officials from Fajir Govanitashraya Trust also came to the spot and said that the theft had taken place when the cattle at Govanitashraya were left to graze. A complaint was filed in this regard in Ullal police station.

The Omni was being driven by one Abdul Khader who was transporting the cow to a slaughter house at Chembugudde, said eyewitnesses.

Siddu on his part, can do something in this regard. India is a largest exporter of Beef. Why not ban beef export from Karnataka and feed our desperate people with it..who are so desperate that they go to any extent for the tasty dish to accompany urpel ari.

If they are real leaders, fight back now and get Mr.Abdul Khader arrested and ensure he is punished severely for the illegal activity he was in to. Come on. Please. Then only others will get trust and faith on you. This is a clear incident where everything is crystal clear and culprit is also known. Because of car accident, the stolen cows are brought into light. How many such cattle’s are escaped and slaughtered so far without such incident.

Don’t they have any other decent profession? We have seen laws alone are unable to curb this menace. Because they have some community supporters who bail them out within no time and trafficking will going to continue as soon as they released.
My request to community leaders is they must take this matter very seriously and save the religion from this kind of disgrace by teaching youth with good morals and also seriousness over stealing
