Pleased to see so many new appointments and changes in the Pastoral appointments in Mangalore as well as Udipi Diocese. The Catholics of Mangalore and Udipi have an important part to play in the mainstream of India's democratic pattern of life.

Two major appointments impact our life: Firstly, Fr. Bona Nazareth is leaving us from our Valencia Parish after dedicating so much for the St.Vincent Ferer Church. The Valencia Parish has seen a tremendous growth and prosperity under the able leadership and guidance of Fr.Bona who will now be a great gift for Belthangadi Parish. We are glad that the priest from Belthangadi will take over the prestigious place at Valencia. We welcome him with a warm heart in Valencia and he will be equally successful because he will come across some of the fine parishnors at Valencia. Both Valencia and Belthangadi will act as "Sister Parishes" so that they can always consult with each other on some of the crucial issues that relate to the Parish and the people.

Fr. Victor Machado will be a great asset at the Bishops House as much as we would miss him at Bijey church. It is so nice to see the Bijey Church from our home on the 10th floor, and the glimpse of the cemetery from our balcony always reminded us that our life is short.

In this fast moving world, the role of a Catholic priest in our churches in India is crucial yet most valuable. They are our spiritual Ambassadors. As the generations are growing so fast, a Catholic priest in every parish has a great responsibility of keeping Catholic families together with love and unity so that the Catholic faith remains stronger than ever before and the families under one roof in a parish remain strong and united in spite of any minor differences. When the families remain strong and vibrant they are equally motivated to help the Parish in so many ways so that the Parish gains the momentum in our multi-cultural society in India and in Mangalore.

Thank you, Bishop Aloysius, best wishes
