Udupi: Waylon Machado takes over as president of ICYM central council

Udupi, Jun 1: Waylon Machado of Kallianpur parish took over as the president of ICYM central council of Udupi diocese here on Sunday June 1.

A training programe was organized for the office-bearers of all the units of ICYM Udupi diocese by the Youth Commission at Don Bosco Hall, Udupi. The morning session was conducted by Fr Reginald Pinto, director of Social Development Commission, Udupi diocese.

A mass was offered by youth director Fr Edwin D’souza and Fr Reginald Pinto at noon, and a general body meeting was held at 1.30 pm. The meeting started with a prayer song and Shawn Tauro, Kundapur welcomed the gathering and the detailed report of the ICYM council of the year 2013-14 was read out by Waylon Machado.

Leslie Arouza, ICYM animator and assistant director of Family Life Commission, honoured the outgoing office-bearers and delivered an inspiring message.

Fr Reginald Pinto distributed certificates to the presidents and secretaries of all the units that participated in the training programme, after which the oath-taking ceremony was held for the new council members for the year 2014-15.

Leslie Arouza felicitated by Fr Reginald Pinto and Fr Edwin D’Souza and proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting concluded with the ICYM anthem. Teena Machado, Udyavar compered the programme. As many as 120 members were present during the programme.
