Mangalore: More goof-ups in valuation put students in a fix

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jun 1: This year, goof-ups in PU exam valuation have put students in a fix. Every day new incidents are being reported from around the state, landing the PU board in an embarrassing position.

Praveen Jain

Daijiworld had reported about PU commerce student Ramya who secured 0 in the accountancy paper when the result was first announced, and later after revaluation was found to have scored 70 marks. Soon after the news was published, another student from Mangalore was learnt to have faced a similar situation. The student's result showed that she scored 0 in Hindi, but after revaluation, it was declared that she had in fact scored 90! However, the parents of the student were reluctant to make the matter public.

Now, in another such case reported from Moodbidri Jain High School, Praveen Jain, a brilliant commerce student found to his utter shock that he secured only 5 marks in statistics. He could not believe his result, as he was expecting distinction. Praveen who is from a poor background even found it difficult to pay the revaluation fee. But with the help of a good samaritan he managed to apply for revaluation. To his great joy and surprise, he secured 95 marks in the paper after revaluation!

In all the above cases, a common feature that can be observed is that somehow, while declaring the initial results, the PU board seems to have missed the first digit in the actual score!

A similar case was reported from St Raymond's School in SSLC exams. Due to valuator's negligence, Astron Lobo secured 110 marks in English out of 125, and had to be satisfied with a second spot in school. Astron who always stood first in class, was disappointed with the result and applied for revaluation, and later found that he had scored 120 marks which enabled him to regain his first rank in school!

as I always iterate, punish all the teachers who end up in such disasters. If the matter is confirmed and with enough evidence, then the teacher who evaluated the papers should get peanlised. But if it's only the reporting issue, then the team which is verifying before reporting should held responsible for. if teacher has done the duty correctly and its only system issue while reporting, then teacher can not be blamed for. This will be clear when the reevaluation is done. So, decision should be taken accordingly. if teacher's mistake, get back the amount paid for him / her and penalise them. If reporting issue, reporting team should held responsible and should be penalized.

What type of teachers and evaluators are these???

These people are unfit to be teachers...spoiling life of innocent students....these morons should be flogged before suspending from all future evaluation work...

I think these evaluators are from "reservation quota"....this bloody reservation is there only in India and no where else in the world...look at Mayavathi,,, Karunanidhi,,, Meira Kumar,,,Muniyappa(Junior Vidhwaan)....are these people fit to rule us???

Common guys hit disagree and support reservation...

This type of negligence is happening purely because of some DRUTHARASHTRA evaluator's negligence.

These drutharshtra family members are playing with precious young students life.

Revaluation fees should be recovered from guilty evaluators & should be reimbursed to innocent students

If this is the mistake of PU board then they should pay back the re evaluation fee paid by the students with compensation. Bcoz of the silly mistake poor children are losing one year due to admission full.

Ramya actually Marks 70, they removed first digit 7 = the fake total is 0!
one of the student in Hindi actually Marks 90, they removed first digit 9 = the fake total is again 0!

Now Praveen Jain actually Marks 95, they removed first digit 9 = the fake total is 5 !

These trends show increasing inefficiency of the evaluator or data entry person. Their inefficiency affects the future life of a student, sometimes resulting suicides too. PUC board must cut the entire remuneration of those inefficient people and debar them from future evaluation work to give a strong message

This is the result of reservation quota.. when a really deserving and able person is not ed to do all these jobs and only reserve category is given the job then this will be the final result

Great and superb job by so called evaluators.Due to their ignorance students have to pay heavy prices and spoil their future,if they don't take any corrective steps.Students are the sufferers.Such evaluators should be debarred from their job evaluation. What a wonderful job by so called evaluators.Ba####ds.If they can't,why they have to undertake such jobs at the cost of students future.

I don't know why blind valuation is serial vise even a student work hard and expecting distinction and getting "0" and "5" marks in the examination. So I request all other student to proceed for revaluation who have a faith and failed in the particular subject.
