New Delhi, Jun 1 (DHNS) : The BJP top brass has given the green signal to field B Y Raghavendra from Shikaripura Assembly seat, which was vacated by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa after getting elected to the Lok Sabha from Shimoga.
During Yeddyurappa’s recent meeting with party national president Rajnath Singh, the latter agreed to field Raghavendra as the BJP candidate.
Though the bypoll for the Shikaripura Assembly segment is yet to be announced, the party leaders are learnt to have informed Yeddyurappa to prepare his son to contest the poll.
The BJP, in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, fielded Yeddyurappa from Shimoga parliamentary seat by replacing his son B Y Raghavendra.
The Lingayat leader, who won the seat, recently submitted his resignation as an MLA.
Yeddyurappa had won the Shikaripura seat in 2013 Assembly elections as the Karnataka Janata Paksha candidate, the party he had floated after breaking away from the BJP.
Later, he merged the KJP with the BJP.
