Bijapur clashes: Ex-union minister Yatnal arrested for inciting mob

Bijapur, May 28 (Agencies): Former Union minister and BJP leader Basavanagowda Patil Yatnal has been arrested by the police for making inflammatory speeches during the celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on Monday.

Two religious groups had clashed during the celebration. Karnataka Police have taken him into custody from a hideout in Kolhapur in neighbouring Maharashtra.

The police have registered four separate cases against him. Twenty six others have also been arrested for inciting communal violence.

The Northern Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhaskara Rao has informed the media that the police have checked the video footage of the incident and have gathered incriminating evidence against Yatnal.

Section 144 has been imposed in Bijapur city in Mumbai-Karnataka region of the state.

Yatnal was a minister of state Railways and Textiles in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He is a two-time MLA and a two-time MP.

Yatnal has been booked under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the IPC.

It is too much and what else one can expect from such a tainted group of politicians?

Why and why is the common man has to suffer so much? Many many innocent ordinary people have lost their two wheelers, many petty shops were looted, ransacked and were destroyed by rioting mob on 26-5-2014 at 6-20 p.m. We are living here in fear and full of anxiety. Section 144 is clamped and Reserve Police have been brought from all over Karnataka and they are keeping strict watch over the situation. Any moment the riot may explode into big volcano burning and destroying everything and everybody on its way.

At present the Police has brought the volatile condition under control but do not know when the people will turn into fighting mood. It is said by the policemen that the section 144 will be in effect till 30th May.

But it is very bad of Mr B. Patil Yetnal to ignite the riot and run away to Kolhapur. Wah what an insincere public servant of the people! God save us!

Whoever it may be , may it b a muslim mullah or hindu swami, may it b a congi or bjp or any member of group, if spreads hate n incites communal violence, its onus on the citizen to catch n punish them, so strong message is sent across to hardliners....we need peace n prosperity n not division n hate. Our political or police or judicial system failed to curb it..now its we citizens turn to stop it.

Mr.jeevan Every news if it is related to minority you are always there to criticize the right and support the wrong. My dear if you people think by attacking minority you will be in safe side it's your foolishness. If there is no peace in the society nobody will be happy. Now don't think i am a religious fanatic like you. I love my nation and all Indians irrespective of their cast and religion. Being a proud muslim doing business in a muslim country I hired a hindu from my place to look after it. Like that thousand of hindus working and earning thousands of riyals here in a conservative muslim country so please whenever you write something consider this points also.

Communal violence are engineered in India. if broke out superindent of police and/or district minister can bring under control within couple of hours. The law and order is well organised in Indian police and civil system . However if the will of admin is towards sangh parivar and/or act slow riots will continue for few days.

Siddu government was arresting Waqas and people were crying foul mentioning freedom of speech..!!

If same Siddu government was arresting Yatnal, the same people have forgotten freedom of speech..!!

In Waqas case, they were thinking the arrest was done by BJP. In Yatnal case, they are thinking the arrest is done by Congress. But my question is when Siddu government has become BJP Government and overnight become COngress government?

For PSEUDOS, anything is OK for commenting negatively.

It is really unfortunate and binging bad name to the party, which assumed office only couple of days before.Whoever and whatever may be the reason, first of all we must think about our own brothers and sisters residing abroad for many years and accustomed and adhere to the culture and law of the country they reside. If you create a problem in India, there will be big impact on the people, who have gone there for their livelihood and settled there.has anybody think about them and their implications. If they create problem like the way what we are doing here,it is a big problem in the days to come.

Beware of it.Besides they have settled they are earning foreign exchange income for the growth of the country.May be your own brother or sister living there.mind it well.During Belgaum-Maharashtra border problem, what happened to Kannadigas in Mumbai. So many innocent Kannadigas have been killed regardless of their caste, religion, race for their no mistakes.Think twice before taking any step and don't regret later.

This is the modus- operandi of some politicians. When they fail to do anything good and loose their importance, they try to create tension among two religions so that they will get support from majority
community. Now we have to be careful and support each other regardless which religion we belong to.
