Railway minister Sadananda Gowda says safety an important issue

New Delhi, May 27 (PTI): Against the backdrop of the Gorakdham train mishap which claimed 25 lives, the new Railway Minister D V Sadanand Gowda today said safety was an ''important'' issue for railways which has to be taken care of.

"Safety is one of the important factors that need to be taken care of by the Railway Ministry," Gowda, who has been allocated the crucial infrastructure portfolio, told reporters here.

The death toll in the train mishap, that took place near Sant Kabir Nagar in Uttar Pradesh has risen to 25 with preliminary report suggesting that a fracture in the tracks could have led to the accident.

Observing that there are many challenges confronting the Railways, Gowda said they would brace them and resolve the problems.

The minister said that he has to study all the issues in details and discuss with Prime Minister Narendra Modi the goals ahead.

"I should discuss with my Prime Minister what is his idea and which aspect we should give focus...I need another 10 days time to come before the public to explain what is the road map before me," he said.

Asked about an ambitious project to run bullet trains in the country, he said the concept has already been emphasised by the Prime Minister during his election campaign.

"Certainly, I will discuss with him".

Hearty congratulations dear Sadanada Gowda and we are proud of you to be in the team. Now ur first priority should double track of Konkan railway, electrification of all railway line all over southern india.Once double track in konkan railway just see the fast development on the konkon route.Hoping to see more good work like our George Fernandes did when he took over railway minister which helped us to travel by rail on konkan route. One more rail route is required from Mangalore to Hyderabad.Mangalore should be connected through railway with all part of India. It is a challenge to u and show the tulunandu that u have done it in five years by implemented new project for development of Mangalore.

Lot of jugglary has gone into allocation which is purely on merit & performance abilities. Good to see DVS getting important Railways- He has a good opportunity as Kharge did not do anything at all. Develop Konkan, put the second track & improve Mangalore..possibly into a new division under SWR. Ananthkumar has limited role in Karnataka, but Siddeshwara could look at speeding up Belgaum, Shimoga & Mysore airport expansion on which Siddu & team are sleeping over past one year due to petty politics. He can also push for more international flights from Mangalore

The most Jelous person at the moment on the surface of this Earth would be "BSY"
Reluactanty BSY resigned as CM that too after consuting astrolegers bla bla just to get as many days. Wanted to put Shettar ont eh chair but realised hat he may revolt later and soon had DVS as CM. Got his way to clear his name and wanted back the Chair. DVS then acted on instructions from Delhi as BSY was threatning HQ all the time. He levelled allegations against DVS sayig he was taking decesions unanimously with out consulting. DVS was unfairly forced to resign because of adamant BSY. He then broke off from the BJP to form his 3rd class party and then was taken back coz of a fear of a back lash. As soon as the results were out he was in Delhi wagging his tail....But "hey" the nae of the man in charge is Mr. Modi,,,,BSY you and your astrolegrs cant fool Mr. Modi. Now BSY must be wondering Gen VK Singh, S Irani etc all first time MP's have been inducted in the ministry!!! Why not me??? Haha - Greed Yeddy - Be aware NaMo is watching...You got what you deserve.

Cleanliness is the most important issue. In railway stations, offices, washrooms, platforms trains and tracks need to be clean. Where there is dirt and ugliness there accidents bound to happen because mind does not work. Where everything is clean and bright no accident takes place. Therefore safety is equal to cleanliness. And cleanliness is equal to godliness.

Dear D V S Its good that you became railway minister. You can do lots of improvements first starting from your state. Karnataka needs lot of improvements in Railways when compared to Tamilnadu and Kerala. Many stations have to be upgarded. There are places were there is no railway routes. Electrification and doubling of railway line is minimal in karnataka. We expect a lot of improvement of railways during your tenure as Railway minister. Indian railways is the life line of every Indian. Wish you all the Best.

That is how you thought about my messages. I am still with Congress. it is my Political party and I support it.
That does not mean, when another Government has taken over, I should not support them.. That is shallow thinking. I want my India to be strong.
If I support the Government at the center, I along with other Indians will also benefit.
If somethings, I thought were wrong , I have criticized and those which should be praised I have praised.

Now, I am supporting all the good work the present Government is going to do and criticize in my own way if I think it was not done properly.
I strongly condemn though any atrocities by some splinter groups of BJP and continue to do so if they are still into it.

But One thing I want to set right which I had commented against Modi. I think he is a genuine workaholic and may not spare anyone being lethargic in ones work.
    Wishing Modi well.
Meantime Congress is on it's way to recovery from the disastrous election blow and will be working towards replacing the present Government. It is a huge task but they are a real the one and only political party in India until and unless BJP this time proves it's worth and joins in.

Thank you Mr. Prabhu - You are more learned than me and I have great regard for you from the way you write here.

In lighter vein - if the train moves without rails there will be more safety (all, smile like SG).

Good observation from our New Railway Minister. Otherwise there will be fires in the bogeys, riots, arson etc. More should be employed for checking passengers\belongings.
Efficient staff to monitor the tracks, especially where naxals\maoist concentration is more. Negligent workers should be given notice.
The trains are too slow for long travel. Bullet trains should be introduced promptly. For this DVS has to travel to Japan
    China for first hand knowledge.

I hope everything will work out well and we all enjoy the fruits of good decisions from the present Government.

First of all I congratulate for having been allocated him an important portfolio of Railway in the recently formed Modi cabinet.

Expectation from the people of coastal region is high because minister is from our region. But the fact is that he is the minister not only for Mangalore/udupi or Karnataka region but he is the minister for whole nation and has to address the burning issues on priority basis. It is always easier said than done but requires time and planning. We can suggest, propose many issues, queries and suggestions. But being a minister he too must think and act on priority basis after consulting with the prime minister as he can not take his own decision. However he can give more priority to fulfill the longstanding wishes of coastal belt people. We can help him,the way we can to make his job easy and more successful. This is not one man job and it is a collective job.Everybody should contribute their share.I wish him all the best of luck in his new assignment and future endeavourment. May God him. Wait and see his performance and then comment. Not now.He has to study many more aspects.

Mr. Railway Minister, you seem to be enthusiastic to work like a bullet train – stop floating in the air. Do you think bullet trains are the need of the hour? First and foremost, we need staff who can communicate in the local language. Second, there are several level crossings which are closed every fifteen minutes wasting time of - and causing anxiety to - people, especially during the morning hours. Third, we need separate counters for platform tickets. Your information desks are a horror the clerks themselves do not have any credible information. There are many more such small little things that need to be attended to. First learn to think small and act. Then everything will fall in line. Once you do that, you can zoom with bullet train speed.

    Mr. Sadanand Gowda !!
Lalu (Ex Railway minister) shows to the world that railway also running with a greatest profit if not any corruption and he deployed more trains to Bihar when in power, so we also expect more train and good service in our Karnataka State especially from Mangalore to Mumbai because the demand is more day by day.

DV Sadananda Gowda, the union railway minister, has an interesting connection with his portfolio -his youngest brother DV Suresh, 52, is the station master at Nandikoor, near Mulki, about 35km from Mangalore.

First of Congratulations on getting Rail Ministry which one of the back-bone of Indian people as well as Economy.
Your strategy at Centre well worked to get into NAMO team, but please be careful of BSY and his team in due course because he can't digest that he could not able to get anything in NAMO team instead NAMO told him to concentrate in State after working so hard for LS elections ! for State he need to wait another 4 years, by that time again age factor will be constraint for CM chair ! therefore Dont smile too much !

We had two brilliant Railway ministers earlier, they were from our own soil Late Mr. TMA Pai and Mr. George Fernandis. Even though their stint in ministry is very short, but people still remember and respect thier service during thier period. So, you can take them as examples for your work in Ministry.

We are eagerly waiting for completion of National Highway work, even though this is not coming under your ministry, please try to have a good word with your colleague minister of highways to complete the work at least before next deepawali !

We have not seen the request of Dinesh for the bullet train between Mangalore and Bangalore that too in the Ghat section. Such request must be the joke of the century.

First you have to help those people who's land acquired by railways past years....no roads to cross their own property....no roads (mud road)since 1947 ....now is the best time Mangalore MP to raise these issue to DVS about this....help those people struggling for proper infra.....example: Niddle road, near bridge crossing....only a 1 km road to be done by tarmac.

a)Free travel for all Konkani speaking people in Konkan railways for using their name.
b)Railways kitchen should have Kori rotti, Neer dhose, Marvai pundi, Denjee ghasi & Kali in their menu.
    c) Provision for one bar & restaurant in each train to promote hoteliers.

Hearty congratulations dear Sadanada Gowda and we are proud of you to be in the team of Mr. Modi. However sincere suggestion coupled with safety as a prime factor is:
Plan for electrification of ALL railway network within the country and plan for high speed railway system which is in place currently in China & Japan. To do all this Energy (Power) may be a important criteria. ALL requires strategic planning and ution in phases.

So you think any Gowda Railway will connect Mangalore to Bangalore?
    (via Puttur- Sullya)
He is from Puttur,He could have at least widened the road to the Subramanya Temple..For every thing you need Modi?.I wish him good luck,I met him couple of times in flights,he smiles always.
I did not liked his statement that he should wait for Modi on what to do..He is more educated than Modi,he can plan new routes, developments, bullet train? ..All these days you were blaming Sonia and now you need Modi every moment?
