Bhatkal, May 27: In an incident that seemed straight out of a Bollywood flick, a woman on Sunday May 25 barged into a wedding hall and stopped the celebration midway, claiming that the bridegroom was her husband and they were married 11 years ago. The incident took place at Shirani Temple at Uttarakoppa village in Bhatkal.

Padma Sathish, a resident of KR Puram, Bangalore, hailing from Kargal of Shimoga, stormed into the marriage hall even as the function was going on, and declared, "I got married to him (bridegroom) 11 years ago. But now he is cheating me by getting married for second time." She demanded the that wedding be stopped.

The groom’s family tried to stop her, but she did continued to scream and attack the groom verbally. Subsequently, the arguments turned into a physical brawl between the two sides. The situation came under control only after the police reached the spot, reports said.

"I was married to Sathish, a resident near Jog Falls 11 years ago in Sigandur. Our marital life was good until two or three months ago, when he started leaving home frequently. Now, without my consent, he is getting married to a woman from Shirani," she said.

Padma filed a complaint with Murdeshwar police asking them to take action and stop the wedding. The police had assured her they would act according to law. SI Manjappa said that investigation was on.

Meanwhile, despite the dramatic interruption, the wedding went on with both families agreeing to ignore Padma's allegations. The bride too did not object to stay with Sathish.

I think in such cases a civil marraige certificate from court will be very helpfull.why India is not making it compulsary for Hindus /or everybody.many times in India such cases have happened.and many times women are the one who suffer last.Men just disappear leaving children behind and go elsewhere and marry someone else.many times 3-4times.when that woman says 11years back he married her, must be some truth in it.but very irritating is present wedding Party agreed without any Problem and without inquiry.Hope he will remain this time.

Also to have special effect/impact, read bottom to top with name change i.e. start John first instead of Jane. (just for time pass)

I remember the incident happened at my home 25 years ago but it was the day before my sister's engagement. A lady and her friends came to my house and told that, the groom who is going to get married with my sister was her husband. Immediately we all went to groom's house and stopped the engagement/marriage. That day was very horrible for us.

After reading the following before and after marriage attitude of the present day couples, I feel what Padma says may be true.

    Before marriage
John: Ah-at last, I can hardly wait
Jane: Do you want me to leave ?
John: No don't even think about it
Jane: Do you love me ?
John: Of course, always have and always do
Jane: Have you ever cheated on me ?
John: No, why are you even asking ?
Jane: Will you kiss me ?
    John: Every chance I get
Jane: Will you hit me ?
John: Hell, no, are you crazy ?
Jane: Can I trust you ?
    John: Yes
    Jane: Darling

    After marriage
Read from the bottom back to the top.

I don't think it's too tough to find out if they were married or staying together. I am not sure why it's such a big investigation. there should be some proof for her 11 years of marriage which the woman claims. if yes, then yes, let it it go for a detailed investigation. if nothing in proof and just come and claim him as her husband, looks suspicious. any ways, filmy stories started appearing in real life. Pity on us.
