Chennai, May 25 (IANS): The Akkineni family's Telugu drama "Manam" has opened to a slow and steady start at the box-office raking in Rs.4.02 crore in first two days in the country. According to trade pundits, the film has done extremely well overseas.
The film, which released May 23, features actors from the three generations of the Akkinenis - the late legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, son Nagarjuna and grandsons Naga Chaitanya and Akhil.
"'Manam' had a slow start at the box-office as it raked in about Rs.4.02 crore in two days in the country. But the overall buzz around the film has been positive and shows are running housefull over the weekend. We have to wait for the opening weekend numbers to judge how the film has performed," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
"Manam", directed by Vikram Kumar, also features Shriya Saran, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neetu Chandra and Raashi Khanna in important roles.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Manam" has done well in the US.
"Telugu film 'Manam'- US: $292,081. Rs.1.71 crore. Superb," Adarsh posted on his Twitter page.
