Bangalore, May 25 (DHNS) : Former MP and cine actor Ramya has cited rift between Housing Minister M H Ambareesh and former external affairs minister S M Krishna as the prime reason for her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from Mandya Parliamentary segment.
Ramya lodged a complaint in this regard with the party high command on May 19, when she met the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice President Rahul Gandhi. Ramya was defeated by C S Puttaraju of the JD(S).
It is said that Ramya directly accused the Ambareesh faction in Mandya Congress for creating differences in the party leading to her defeat.
The actor allegedly said that despite the factionalism, the district in-charge minister did not convene a meeting of the two groups to iron out the differences. She said that the Ambareesh faction repeatedly tried to create dissension for the sole purpose of ensuring her defeat.
It is claimed by party sources that Ramya has pointed fingers for her loss against Congress leaders such as Amaravathi Chandrashekar, Lingaraju, Madhu Madegowda, Ramesh Raju, L R Shivaramegowda, Siddaraju, B Vivekanand and others. All the above leaders are said to be supporters of Ambareesh.
Sources in the Congress said that the actor, during the meeting, demanded an inquiry into the episode and action against those found guilty of anti-party activities
