'X-Men' posters beamed on London's Oxford Circus

London, May 24 (IANS): Producers of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" received a major boost after British tourism chiefs granted permission for the film's posters to be beamed onto London's famous shopping plaza Oxford Circus for the first time.

The movie, starring actor Hugh Jackman, was released in the US Friday. The producer's target is that the film launches with a unique publicity drive in the British capital, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Local officials agreed to allow technicians to project stills and moving images onto the busy road crossing at Oxford Circus for the first time since it was installed in 2009, Friday and Saturday.

Every 24 hours, approximately 500,000 visitors pass through the Regent Street and Oxford Street, making Oxford Circus, where the two roads cross, one of the busiest intersections in Europe.

"We are delighted to work with Twentieth Century Fox once again in what looks to be an exciting first for London's West End," said David Shaw, head of Regent Street Portfolio, The Crown Estate.
