Bantwal, May 24: Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim and superintendent of police Dr Sharanappa have jointly prepared a formula to ease traffic congestion in BC Road area. As per plans, the flyover will be opened for two-way traffic within the next fifteen days.

A B Ibrahim and Dr Sharanappa scrutinized the area and held discussions regarding causes for congestion with Bantwal DySP Rashmi Paradi, additional circle inspector Manjayya, tahsildar Malleswamy, town municipal official Ganesh, rural police inspector Nagaraj and others.

The planning director of National Highways Authority Dr Mishra was present. He said that he would take necessary measures to ensure smooth flow of two-way traffic on the flyover.

Chief town municipal council official Ganesh put across the problems of drainage because of the construction of flyover. When the commissioner enquired about issue with the planning director of national highways, he assured that the open drainages will be repaired within the next fifteen days, and that the drainage slabs will be joined and drains will be constructed on either sides of the road for flow of water.

Speaking to the reporters A B Ibrahim said that the district administration and the police department are taking necessary steps in the interest of vehicle drivers and commuters.

He said that the construction of railway overbridge that is in progress will be ready in six months and hoped that the traffic problems in BC Road will be solved completely after that. District Police Commissioner Dr Sharanappa said that two-way traffic will be allowed on the flyover on an experimental basis and police constables will be assigned to regulate the traffic. The two-way traffic will facilitate vehicle drivers and commuters, he said.

The formula stipulates that the vehicles coming towards BC Road bus stand should ply below the flyover, and vehicles that do not come to the bus stand and ply to Bangalore, Puttur and Dharmasthala should move over the flyover. To facilitate vehicles from Mangalore to go over the flyover dividers at Kaikamba or B C Road will have to be removed, and a notification would be issued to this effect.

Only when people wake up anything is possible.
But here the central government has not come into this yet.
Wait after it takes office to comment.

The flyover should have continued beyond the circle when coming from Bangalore side & beyond Kaikamba when moving towards Mangalore.
The approach roads to that flyover should have been provided in that two points to decongest BCRoad city.
Otherwise this too won't help much in peak seasons or times.
The roads below flyover need widening after land & buildings directly beside the road without foot paths or parking area are hindering the smooth traffic flow.
If the above bottlenecks are not cleared then this small measure won't help much.
Hope new DC reads comments of concerned citizens in this forum too.

It is good to see that we have powerful and enthusiastic officers in Dakshina Kannada. Mr. Ibrahim has shown keen interest in the welfare of the District and indeed he is an action oriented - result oriented oficer. Dr. Sharanappa does not mince words but indeed he has already made a name for himself in Mangalore.

Hope the situation improves as is envisaged after the commissioning of the over-bridge.

Not only BC Road flyover but all the Flyovers built should be used for Two way movements of vehicles..Bikaranakatte ,Kottarachowki n Surathkal also..This will ease Traffic movement and greatly reduce Noise Pollution .
Further necessary Warning Boards should be installed at least 100 metres before the foot of the Flyovers...In future also all the Flyovers should be designed for Two way Traffic.

But where is Bantwal MLA and District In-Charge Rai Saab??? Whether CONGiss or BJP Leaders… if they don’t perform what they promised… people from that region should show them the door forever… Rai Saab, wake up soon… people became so smart now… don’t take much time to shift their loyalty!!! We know that National Highway comes under Central Government rule, but being a local MLA, you can put some pressure to finish the task in time. I hope that now Nalin Kumar Saab will take up the matter in Lok Sabha too

Shift Bus stand from that place. Build a Bangalore and shimoga standard bus stand. at least 500 meters away from that place.
