Abu Dhabi: Splendid entertainment marks KCO Fiesta

Abu Dhabi, May 23: It was an awesome performance all the way at the Abu Dhabi Country Club on Friday May 23 when KCO‘s annual event "Fiesta 2014", a splendid show unfurled with variety entertainment to the delight of the Mangalorean and Goan audience.

KCO’s fund raising event lived up to its promise with non-stop entertainment throughout the day from start to finish. The selection of songs, live music, Russian dance sessions, spot prizes, comedy skits etc provided perfect mixture of a cultural feast as promised.













































The programme commenced at 11.15 am with a prayer lead by Rupert Vaz and prayer song lead by Renny Lobo followed by KCO‘s theme welcome song rendered by KCO members laid the strong foundation for the days exciting programme.

The day's line of events were evenly divided into three sessions giving ample scope for the singers, musicians, comedians and dancers.

Leslie Rego, the energetic compere laid the foundation for an eventful day in his own unique style raising the tempo as the day progressed.

Dr Prashanthraj commenced the event with the song “Meri Sapnon ki Rani” followed by queen of Melody – Nephie Rod crooning her first song “Kantar Korun”. Then it was the turn of the new upcoming talents, who has been creating waves in Konkani Music Melvin and Joshal – “Sayyoni” and “Muje Kaliz Mogar Podlam” respectively to the delight of the audience gave a well desired jump start to the event. Adrian Gomes with his young son Alston Joel Gomes who had specially flown in from Kuwait for the event provided background music with their brand professionalism. It was then flow of melodious songs rendered by these singers.

Between the intervals Sanngon Mugdan Fame artists Pradeep Barboza, Deepak Paladka and Asumptha Montheiro presented some rib tickling jokes which left the audience into roars of laughter.

It was Goa's 'Sky High' band gave an impetus to the audience to invade the dance floor for the beat of their superb foot tapping music and rendition of western, Hindi and Konkani songs.

After the first session KCO president Valerian Almeida in his welcome speech, highlighted KCO’s achievements and explained why this kind of entertainment event is important for them to meet their requirements to finance their charitable causes. He thanked the sponsors, well wishers, supporters and the audience for the unstinted support throughout these years. The sponsors, well-wishers, the performers and the media were honored during sessions.

The careful selection of Konkani, English and Hindi songs keeping in mind the taste of both Mangaloreans and Goans were a instant hit including hits of yesteryears sung by Nephie, Dr Prashantraj, Melvin and Joshal to the appreciation of the audience. The singers also rendered ever popular Hindi songs including the recent hits.

It was heartening to see the mingling of both Mangalorean and Goan entertainment lovers at the venue. KCO’s effort in bringing together both the communities was really praiseworthy.

The icing on the program were the professional Russian Dancers from the Viva International Dance Group who performed to precision and were applauded for their breathtaking performance and won the hearts of the audience. Their scintillating dances were applauded by the cheering audience.

The auction was conducted by Leslie Rego to generate funds towards KCO’s projects. A raffle draw was also conducted with valuable gifts were given away. There were spot prizes throughout the day.

Inez D’Cunha, in charge of KCO’s public relations was the anchor for the raffle draw and honouring of the sponsors.

A sumptuous buffet lunch was served during the day.

The evening session had dance session, Raffle Draws, Auctions and non stop Masala provided by the ever popular “ Sky High” band providing mixture of Goan, Mangaloeran, Konkani, Hindi songs, which was the climax of the day. Their music was so mesmerizing had the audience asking for more and for sure their contribution towards the success of the day long programme was huge. The crowd – both young and old - danced to their hearts content. It was a visual treat to watch the festive atmosphere.

With these star-studded performers 'Fiesta 2014' proved to be one of the finest shows ever held in Abu Dhabi and it added another feather in the already glittering cap of Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO).

The success of the show was the result of meticulous planning, dedicated preparation, excellent arrangement and professional performance by all entertainers. This event showcased the unity and organizational capabilities of KCO members who worked hand in hand for the success of this show. In organizing the event of this magnitude KCO has confirmed its superiority and capability in providing quality entertainment programmes to help its mission in helping the needy students for their higher studies and for other social causes.

    Kudos to the organizers of KCO's annual event "Fiesta 2014", specially to it's president Mr. Valerian D'Almeida & his team and congrats to all the performers at the event. Nice to see Renny leading the prayer song.Also to see Dr. Prashanth Raj and Nephie Rod singing on the occasion specially flown from India.Adrian from Kuwait needs no intro to music lovers. Now,nice to see young Alston following his father's footsteps. Definitely the lovely crowd enjoyed all the performances of entertainers.Happy to see some known faces among the large crowd gathered at the Abu Dhabi's Country Club.Wishing good luck to KCO's all future plans.

    'Congratulation' to KCO's President Valerian and all the dedicated KCO team members for their immense efforts to make yesterdays KCO Fiesta 2014 a success. This is yet another feather in KCO's glittering cap. My personal appreciation and congratulations to Adrian Gomes and his son Alston who I feel has a great future in the world of music.
