Kasargod, May 22: A girl who was reportedly abducted by a group in broad daylight from her residence at Alampady last week was rescued from Badiadka on Wednesday, May 21. The police team led by DySP T P Ranjith arrested six persons in connection to the incident.
The arrested are identified Povval resident Saleem (29), the girl's ex-lover Hakim (27), a resident of Alampady, Ashraf (23), a resident of Anangoor, Farooq (28) from Nalamail, Hussain alias Sudu (33) from Anangoor and Musoorilah (21) from Alampady. Police said that Sudu is also an accused in the murder attempt on Jyotish that occurred a few months ago.
The girl, a resident of Alampady, was taken away by force from her house when her family members had gone to the mosque for Friday prayers.
It is said that there the girl and Hakim were in love for some time. However, the girl later ended the relationship and her marriage was fixed with somebody else. Angered by this, Hakim planned to abduct her, said the police. The girl was initially taken to Hakim's relative's house at Kottodi.
Fearing raid by the police, she was then taken to another relative's house at Badiadka. The police who received this information, traced the girl at Badiadka on Wednesday night and Hakim was arrested.
The other five accused were arrested later based on the information given by Hakim.
Police sub-inspector E V Ravindran, Rajashekaran, Pradeep Chavara, Sinos Siriak, Shaju Manjeshwar and Sunil Abraham participated in the operation.
