KOPPAL, May 22 (TOI): Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's wife Jashodaben visited Anjanadri Hill, known as the birthplace of Hanuman, around 4pm on Wednesday in Gangavati taluk of Koppal district in North Karnataka.
According to a local TV news channel, Jashodaben arrived in Hospet, Karnataka, from Gujarat in a special train along with 1,500 other pilgrims, most of them women. This visit is said to be part of a pilgrimage that includes Badrinath, Puri, Dwarka and Rameswaram. During her 90-minute stay, she also visited Pampa Sarovara, which is close to Anjanadri Hill.
At Anjandri Hill, Jashodaben, dressed in a brown sari, was seen doing Mangalarathi along with another woman.
After coming to Hospet by train, the pilgrims went to Anegundi in 21 KSRTC buses and went to the Anjanadri hillock where the temple is located. They offered copies of Hindu epics at the Lakshmi temple. Sources claimed Jashodaben offered a special puja.
VHP's Hospet unit chief Kantilal, Anjanadri temple's chief priest Vidyadas Mahanth and Lakshmi temple priest Ramdev Baba were among those present. District police had no clue about the visit of Jashodaben.
