Mumbai, Jul 4: Heavy rains continued to lash the city for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, inundating several low lying areas and railway tracks and adversely affecting road and rail traffic.

The local trains on the Central and Harbour line were running behind schedule in the morning, but were stopped after 10 a.m. due to water-logging on the tracks at several places, railway sources said.

Trains on the Western line were running 20 minutes behind schedule, they said.

However, long-distance trains on Central, Western and Konkan railway were not affected, the sources said.

Road traffic has also been diverted due to inundation of roads in Andheri, Khar, Milan Subway and Dahisar, official sources said.

Educational institutions have been asked to declare a holiday, the sources added.
