Dubai, May 21: After more than a decade, Tulu theatre enthusiasts in the UAE will get an opportunity to witness a play with one of the finest pairs Tulu theatre has ever seen - Devdas Kapikad and Naveen Padil - here at Sheikh Rashid auditorium on Friday May 23.
The two Tulu back-to-back popular plays 'Podyodchi Yanulle' and 'Pudhar Deetuji' are all set to be staged starring the popular duo. They will be well supported by another acclaimed and equally popular comedian artiste Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, adding special spice to the tastebuds of coastal drama fans.
"We have brought many new things to our old drama 'Pudar Deetuji', which is one of our all time hit plays. Naveen and I have missed acting together in plays for about 7-8 years due to various reasons, but now we are back together not only in movies, but also in dramas. To give the highest amount of entertainment to UAE Tulu lovers is our immediate goal. We want to rock the stage on Friday, so that Tulu theatre lovers will not only remember us, but also get the maximum taste of real comedy," said Devdas Kapikad to daijiworld correspondent in Mangalore prior to leaving for Dubai.
"Devu (Kapikad) and I are like 'Koti-Chennaya', when we are together on stage people have lots of expectations, and it is challenge for us to live up to the expectations of the people in the UAE," said Naveen Padil to daijiworld.
The first play 'Podyodchi Yanulle' will start at 5 pm, followed by the next play 'Pudar Deetuji' at 8 pm. The ticket is priced at a reasonable AED 100, 50 and 30 only.
According to coordinator Karnur Mohan Rai, there has been tremendous response to the plays from all corners, and tickets might be sold out even before the start of the show.
Daya Kirodian, one of the organisers, has requested the people to avoid last minute rush and disappointment, and book tickets well in advance.
