Mangalore: Fear of Mers Corona disease spreading in coastal region?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, May 21: Mers Coronavirus which has created panic in the Gulf countries, specially in Saudi Arabia, is feared to be spreading in Karnataka, mainly in the coastal cities as a large number of people from Gulf countries arrive through Mangalore airport.

Some of the health experts in the state have expressed surprise that there is no health check-up of passengers arriving from the Gulf countries. According to the state health department, it is the central government that has to give instructions to conduct check-ups of passengers.

In the next few days, Mers Coronavisurs test may be conducted at Mangalore and Bangalore airports as this virus could spread fast by just shaking hands or talking to an infected person from a close range.

What is Mers Coronavirus?

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is viral respiratory illness that first surfaced in Saudi Arabia in April 2012. It is caused by a coronavirus called MERS-CoV. The disease is referred to as Coronaviruses as they have crown-like projections on their surfaces. "Corona" in Latin means "crown" or "halo".

Recently, it has been confirmed that Arabian camel is the origin of the infectious disease.

Here are some important facts about this virus:

-The first case of MERS coronavirus was detected in June 2012 in a patient from Saudi Arabia who suffered from severe pneumonia.

- On May 2, 2014, the first US imported case of MERS was confirmed in a traveler from Saudi Arabia to the US.

- Studies suggest that the virus can spread from infected people to others through close contact.

-World Health Organisation has already notified that the potential of novel virus to be a pandemic or a global epidemic is there. However, WHO has stressed that there is no need to panic.

-The Kerala health department is on high alert after increasing number of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) cases have been reported in Saudi Arabia.

-MERS-CoV is not spread from the same coronavirus that caused severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2003.

-Risks related to MERS-CoV include pneumonia, kidney failure and death.

Symptoms:

The symptoms of the disease are:

-Cough

-Mucous

-Shortness of breath

-Chest pain

-Fever

-Diarrhoea (in some cases)

-Pneumonia

-Kidney failure

Treatment:

According to CDC and WHO, there are no specific treatments and vaccine recommended for illnesses caused by MERS-CoV. Utmost, doctors can provide supportive medical care to help relieve the symptoms and provide required treatment to prevent, control or relieve complications and side effects.

Tips for protection against the virus:

Though there is no treatment available for this virus, but people can follow some preventive measures to ensure their safety. Here are some tips suggested by CDC:

-It is advised to wash one's hands often with soap to avoid the spread of infection. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

-Try covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.

-If your hands are unwashed, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

-Avoid close contact, such as kissing, sharing cups, or sharing eating utensils, with sick people.

-Keep your surroundings clean. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs.

Dear Rita, as our bro, Dev, says there are multitudes of strains of viruses and it is impossible to control them by vaccines!! The only simple and cheapest solution is to get back to Mother Nature and develop a strong immune system by following healthy lifestyle and positive mental attitude!! Now the focus is increasing on the "gut bacteria" which are supposed to play a very highly influential role in the overall well being (developing strong immunity) of the person so it is the time of prebiotics, probiotics, and synbiotics!!

A very recent example of the how the drug cos. are duping the gullible common public is the useless "Tamiflu" (brand name)

"Britain has spent £600m on a stockpile of influenza drugs that are no better than paracetamol in relieving flu symptoms and are next to useless in preventing a pandemic, a major study has fo

The companies behind the two main anti-influenza drugs Tamiflu and Relenza held back crucial information that would have shown just how ineffective their drugs were in clinical trials, according to the independent scientists who compiled the report."~Independent~

So it is time for the common man to take charge of his own health and develop a strong immune system!!

Sorry to say- Vaccines have failed to prevent flu virus as only a few strains of that virus they have developed vaccines, while thousands of strains still lurking against which inoculated are vulnerable too.
Most of the times they don't infect those who had it previously as they have resistance for that strain already in their body.
Vaccines contain mercury & formaldehyde which are neurotoxic as well as carcinogenic, which damage brains as well as toxicity damaging healthy cells.
Pharmaceutical companies advertise them as safe to make money(scam) using governments with their false claims.
Autism in children is caused by toxic mercury & aluminum in them according to recent research.
Best Solution- build immunity as prevention than vaccines as they are more dangerous than the disease, as recent reports of teenagers who got inoculation against Papiloma virus to prevent cervical cancer died soon after getting vaccinated. Search the pros & cons & then only decide to take the risks.

Since it is spread by let infection caused by sneezing and coughing by an infected person it is practically very difficult to control its spread in places of heavy public movement (more so in a heavily populated place like India), and the only best idea is prevention as our bro Dev has suggested of that to keep one's immune system fit by taking a healthy diet, good sleep, reducing stress, and sunbathing and practice basic cleanliness!! Moreover like other viral infections it does not attack all people who are exposed to it!!

Since the infection rates are very low, it would not be good to spread panic among the general public!!

Since it has peculiar symptoms people should be well informed to rush for medical aid on display of any of the specific symptoms!!

Like periodic eruptions of such viral infections from time to time like SARS, KFD (monkey fever), etc. MERS too will fizzle out after its virulence is reduced!!

After reading good news about Mangalore Airport ranking you get bad news to read, that is fear of MERS Corona disease.
What ever disease we have to take precaution and try to avoid it. "Prevention is better than cure." People who may be at increased risk for MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome)that is a recent traveler(s) who develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath , within 14 days after traveling from countries in or near the Arabian Peninsula 1, should call ahead to family doctor or reputed hospital and mention recent travel. While sick, stay home from work or school and delay future travel to reduce the possibility of spreading illness to others. Daiji readers please read the news properly and take all the precautions to avoid MERS.

Maintain hygiene, take balanced diet, expose your body to sun to get Vitamin D3 which is very good immune boosting effect, adequate sleep & rest will help the body repel or eliminate the virus naturally.
An American who had no symptoms though he was in contact with the infected had the virus & his immune system has eliminated it. Scientists are studying his blood samples now.
Exercise to boost immunity & there are many Ayurvedic herbal supplements which can boost & alleviate any viral attacks. Echinacea is one of the most potent anti bacterial, anti fungal & anti viral natural supplement which heals & prevents infections such as respiratory & urinary tract as well without any side effects.
