Mumbai, Jul 3: The Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai, in collaboration with Hridayavani, a weekly from Mangalore, organized the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sanskrita Sammelana-2006 on Saturday July1 and Sunday July 2 at the Vishweshwaraiah auditorium of the Sangha.
The programme was presided over by noted veteran Kannada writer Na. D'Souza. Karnataka state fisheries minister B Nagraj Shetty inaugurated the programme. Jaya C Suvarna, working president, Bharat Bank, E V Satyanarayan of Prajavani Daily and businessman Anand P Shetty, were the chief guests.
K P Manjunath Sagar, president, Sammelana Samiti and editor of Hridayavahini Weekly, rendered the inaugural speech.
Ganesh Poojary, hotelier, Delhi, G D Joshi, writer, Mumbai, R K Shetty, Mumbai, Kagodu Annappa, theatre artiste and Rons Bantwal, journalist, were felicitated by minister Nagaraj Shetty, Na. D’Souza, noted Kannada writer and Jaya C Suvarna. G D Joshi spoke on behalf of the felicitated persons.
Bharat Kumar Polipu, vice president, Karnataka Sangha Mumbai, compered the programme, while Omdas Kanangar, chief secretary, welcomed the gathering.
A humour session presided by Richard Louis saw the participation of Kodu Bhoja Shetty, Kopparam Annapoorna and Sangamesh Baadavadagi.
A magic show was presented by Anil Gupta. Also a stage play ‘ Mannina Magalu Abbakka’, directed by V G Pal, was staged by Karnataka Nataka Academy, Bangalore.
