Kasargod: Student of KVG College, Sullia dies in accident

Kasargod, May 19: A student studying in a college at Sullia in Dakhina Kannada district died in a tipper lorry-bike accident near Kasargod on Monday May 19. Another youth was seriously injured.

The deceased, identified as Varadraj Iyer (23), was from Ernakulam, Kerala.

He was a mechanical engineering student of KVG College, Sullia, and was in the final year of his course.

It is said that on Monday, Varadraj and his friend Karthik Ramesh (23), also from Ernakulam, were riding towards Kasargod. When they reached Bovikanna-Hiriyanni junction, a tipper lorry laden with gravel stones came on the wrong side and rammed into their bike.

They were rushed to hospital, but Varadraj breathed his last on the way. Karthik, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore.

It is said that they were riding from Sullia to Kasargod, from where they planned to take a train to their hometown Ernakulam.

A case has been registered by Adoor police.

    Oh God, roads have become nightmare... imagine parents loosing their only kid. I really cant take it as a fate or God's will. These are victims of man made disasters. which is definitely in our hand to control. Heavy vehicle liscences should be made strict, drunk and drives should be punished thoroughly and given proper counsellings.

    another victim for a devil driver. please don't make that driver to escape. he need to be penalized for his mistake. coming in wrong side and rammed in to other vehicle, who the hell has given permission to all these bas..rds to drive on wrong side. I see many of such evils who take the liberty of driving at wrong side. please... let this be a lesson to all those drivers who think of driving at wrong side. please ensure he gets life time prison or death. my heart feels for his parents. how will they bear this tragedy. RIP
