Daijiworld Media Network - UAE

UAE, May 19: The alumnae/alumni of India’s two prestigious institutions - The St Aloysius and St Agnes Colleges and Schools of Mangalore during their informal meeting appointed veteran Wilson Samuel and Mariel Andrade as the new chairpersons for the Aloysians and Agnesians respectively for the forthcoming 2015 event.

Wison, a talented musician has been a key member of the association since its inception. Mariel has been an active member for the past several years and has played a vital role in planning and organizing entertainment during the past events. These veterans are sure to bring in life with innovative ideas during the next event.

James Mendonca, the past chairperson welcomed the members and their families and thanked the members for their support and cooperation during the last year’s event and assured the cooperation of all members to the newly appointed chairpersons.

The alumnae and alumni gathering generates enthusiastic response from the past old students of these institutions and is a most sought after entertainment event whenever it is presented. More details on the event will be published in this portal in the coming months.

During the same meeting a farewell function was held for Oswald M D’Souza, one of the founder members of the Aloysian Alumni in the UAE and the past chairperson for Aloysians for the 2005 event, who is leaving the UAE shortly after a long stay here.

Oswald has played a key role in organizing Aloysian/Agnesian events since 1997 and has worked behind the scene and has been responsible for the success of the events.

Ronald D’Cunha and Jerome Pereira spoke on the occasion highlighting Oswald’s achievements and wished him good luck and prayers during his retired life.

Wilson and Mariel proposed the vote of thanks.

It is good to see that the past students - LOYAL STUDENTS of St. Aloysius and St. Agnes teaching institutions are taking considerable interest in keeping up and fostering the names of these great bodies.

I had almost my entire education in St. Aloysius and I had the pleasure of being a part of thessteering committee which started an Aloysian foundation in U.S.A./Canada along with Rev.Father Oswald Mascarenhas and Antony D'Silva. This body is still functioning well.

I have had the privilege of being a student of St. Agnes kinder garden school when I was a little boy. That apart my sister (SR. HEDWIGE) was the Principal of St. Agnes College in the eighties.

I am glad that students of these great institutions are trying their best to uphold the names of these great schools/Colleges

From the western coast India to the oil-rich shores of the Persian Gulf, the journey of some of my former friends has indeed been worth appreciating and applauding. Although camaraderie of some have fallen by the way side, I am glad to see their continued loyalty to and love for their alma mater. I congratulate Mr. Wilson Samuel on being chosen yet again as a chairperson of the Aloysian-Agnesian association.
