Mangalore, May 18: Health and family welfare minister U T Khadar in a formal visit to Daijiworld corporate office on Saturday, May 17 echoed the words of other Congressmen and admitted that the drubbbing the Congress party faced in the district was a result of a Modi undercurrent.
The minister was received at the office by editor-in-chief of Daijiworld Walter Nandalike.
Khadar appreciated the efforts of Daijiworld in being instrumental in extending financial support to those who in dire state. He said through online charity appeals, Daijiworld has been providing a platform for the needy people to seek help. "This is a good initiative, one that has emerged as a meaningful online programme," he said, emphasizing that he wished to see it continue in the same spirit.
He expressed confidence that Daijiworld24x7, Daijiworld's new TV channel which was launched on May 9, would deliver innovative and meaningful programmes. He wished good luck to the TV team.
Khadar, who later spoke to Daijiworld media team on the defeat of the Congress party, admitted that the strong presence of Modi wave had decimated the party. When asked if the three ministers of the district would own the responsibility for the debacle in DK, he declined to comment and replied that Modi had succeeded in winning the hearts of the people.
"Modi-led BJP convinced the voters and sparked news hopes in the minds of the people. This translated into votes and routed the Congress party in the district and across the nation," he added.
