Bangalore, May 18: A day after former chief minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa said his induction as a cabinet minister in the Narendra Modi government was a decision left to the prime minister designate Modi and the party, the Lingayat leader hailing from Shimoga met Modi at Gujarat Bhavan in Delhi on Sunday May 18 morning.
After his brief meeting with state RSS leaders, speaking to press persons on Saturday May 17, Yeddyurappa clarified that his induction into the cabinet berth was a choice left to Narendra Modi and the party's top leadership. He lauded the Sangh Parivar for supporting and pushing the party to wrest power at the centre.
However, in an indication that he was lobbying for the post of minister, Yeddyurappa on Sunday morning personally met Narendra Modi at Gujarat Bhavan in Delhi. The details of the conversation between the two is yet to be revealed.
Sources close to state RSS leaders say that though Yeddyurappa extended full support to the nomination of Modi as the prime ministerial candidate much before the state BJP officially made its statement, cases pertaining to corruption would hinder him from bagging the ministerial berth. It is said that he would, in the initial days of administration of the BJP government, recommend his staunch loyalist Shobha Karandlaje for a cabinet post.
Amidst all the speculations on who would make it to the cabinet, sources said Modi’s decisions are complex and hard to predict. It is said that Yeddyurappa was earlier miffed with the RSS state organizing secretary Santhosh, who may well thwart his attempts to realize his ministerial ambitions.
