Bantwal, May 18: In a major development in the rape case of a minor by married men, the police on Saturday May 17 succeeded in tracing and arresting the accused Bobbekeri Basheer and Radhukatte Basheer in Gujarat.

The city crime branch under the directions of SP Dr Sharanappa and a special police team arrested the two accused at Okha in Gujarat after conducting investigations there, it is learnt.

Radhukatte Basheer of Padnoor, Vittal and Bakuta Basheer from Bobbekeri of Vittal Kasba had been absconding ever since a complaint was filed against them. The police received credible information that they were hiding in Gujarat and thus the police teams left for Gujarat and nabbed them.

In April this year, the 14-year-old girl in Idkidu was taken away by Radhukatte Basheer and Bakuta Basheer to Madikeri and allegedly raped her repeatedly for three days. Their friend Jabbar, who came to know of the incident, reportedly took advantage of her and threatened to pour acid and kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone, stated the complaint filed by the girl in Vittal police station.

The police, who failed to trace the accused, had to face flak from various organizations which protested in Vittal, Puttur and Mangalore. Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty too had urged the police to take quick action in arresting the accused.

The police are yet to catch hold of the third accused Jabbar.

hello, let's accept the fact on BJP's victory. let's not connect it with this silly topic. It's a crime and here are the culprits. Lets all join together and support for the life time punishment for these social evils. Just kep in mind if that girl was your daughter or sister. No excuse and no discounts. Life time punishment, it could be hanging or life time prison. Which ever comes under law. Any way India has seen a new begin and direction. LEt's change our mind set also. LEt's close all these communal thinkings. Support the new leader and help him to build a nation which is dream of all of us, I am sure.

Mr. Ismail, i second Mr. Hakim's views. I have been reading your comments since last 3 days and i don't know why you are so desperate to link each and everything with new elected Govt. Come on it's verdict of the people who wanted a change and they voted for a change. I hope you have enough sense to understand these things and i kindly request you to think before you put up your views. Respects.

Arun, some prople just read the headlines and stop when they see the word Gujarat. Mr. Peringe didn't bother to know anything else other than there is a word Gujarath in the article and made a wild guess, connected the dots and believed that ' drugs are bound to Gujarat'.

Permanent JAIL for these two, Jaber get him fast and put acid on his T**L. Give them so much of beating, they should turn black and blue. Let the rape victim decide their fate, then there will be no more crime, don't leave these trial to the judge to decide their fate. Bravo police, they should be rewarded for solving all these incidents, hats off to the police department. Good one Daijiworld.
