Mangalore, May 17: Soon after the BJP secured a majority in the elections and it became clear that Narendra Modi would become the new Prime Minister of the country, the Mangalore unit of NaMo Brigade threw a jibe at senior litterateur U R Ananthamurthy by sending him a flight ticket to leave the country.
Ananthamurthy had earlier stated that he would leave the country if Narendra Modi were to become the Prime Minister. Hence the NaMo Brigade booked a ticket for him to leave the country and go to Pakistan.
The NaMo Brigade wants Ananthamurthy to take a flight from Bangalore to Karachi via Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Airlines flight was scheduled to depart to Colombo on May 17 at 3.40 am from the Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore and arrive at Colombo airport at 5.10 am.
The flight is scheduled to depart from Colombo at 1 pm and reach Karachi at 4.40 pm. All the expenses of the flight have been borne by the NaMo Brigade and the step has been taken to enable the veteran litterateur lives up to his words, stated the NaMo Brigade in a press release.
"The ticket was booked on May 13 itself as everyone knew that NDA would come to power and Modi would be the next PM. To avoid inconvenience to Ananthamurthy in leaving the country at the last minute, the tickets were booked in advance," the release stated.
When contacted for his reaction to this development, Ananthamurthy told daijiworld that he regretted making the statement against Narendra Modi. "It was a mistake. My statement was emotionally driven. Modi's victory is a triumph of advertisements and media management," he said.
