Mangalore, May 16: Celebration broke out in the district BJP camp as party's candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel emerged victorius in the parliamentary elections, defeating Janardhan Poojary of Congress by a huge margin of 1,43,709 votes.

A huge crowd of supporters, party workers and leaders gathered outside BJP district office and celebrated with much gusto and spirit. Nalin Kumar was taken in a procession and also carried around amidst shouts of cheer.

Addressing reporters soon after the declaration of results, a jubilant Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "People have blessed BJP more than we expected. The hard work of party workers has borne sweet fruits, and all credit goes to them. I thank the voters who turned up in large numbers and voted for me."

He further said, "People have recognized the work I have done for the past five years. This result has once again proved that Dakshina Kannada is the stronghold of BJP. I want to make DK the number one district in the country."

He added that Modi wave prevalent in the district also had a role to play in his victory.

Outlining his plans for the district, Kateel said, "We plan to set up a Special Agricultural Zone, and push for a separate railway division for Mangalore. We will deveop the port and upgrade the Mangalore airport to international standards. We will upgrade the national highway and generate employment by setting up IT Park.

"I am against Niddodi power project and Yettinahole project. I will bring only pro-environment projects to DK," he added.

"I did not contest with any political ambitions. My aim is to provide good governance. I am not an aspirant for minister's post at the centre," he stressed.

He also rubbished reports of internal clashes in the district BJP and said that there were no differences among the party leaders or workers.

"We have won not because of the weakness of Congress but because of BJP's strength. It is the hard work of party workers that has resulted in this victory," he reiterated.

Jubilant BJP workers and supporters descended on the streets across the district to celebrate the thumping victory. They burst crackers, shouted slogans and distributed sweets. Nalin Kumar Kateel was taken in an open jeep procession.

Commenting on the victory, BJP leader Nagaraj Shetty said that Nalin Kumar's victory was expected even before the counting of votes. "Narendra Modi and Nalin Kumar Kateel along with party workers have made an equal contribution to the victory," he said.

"DK is a district of intelligent people. All government office workers have voted for the BJP. We will bring back black money," he added.

So look out for petrol and diesel at half price and look forward for Gas at 100 rupees.
Let Modi ban the beef export and ban liquor sale.

Dont keep much expectations about Nalin as he is not literate like you.But he has capability mobilising peoples from all walks of life in Mangalore. He is least bothered if you people not voted for him/BJP on the advise of Arch Bishop Moras and style king Oscar Faernandes. But he will take care of all people across religions/caste/creed/colour whatever may be.This is Modis policy so Nalin Kumars. You people can be rest assured for that.
Accept the fact that muslims and Christians have spoiled Congress in Mangalore/DK due to mixing religion in politics. My comments may taste you bitter but remains a true fact.

    Mr. Naleen Kateel,
    Congratulations on the win.

You will be surprised to be informed that Mlore already has 3 IT parks. The need of the hour is not to create more IT parks which will languish
Here for years without any IT companies operating out of it. You should create an environment where IT companies find it interesting to setup
shops here. There is enormous IT talent here but not enough companies. 90% of the talent is forced to migrate to Blore in search of better jobs
the options available here are far and limited.
Create an echo system where IT parks have all the facilities that a company will look for in terms of setting up operation. Create Brand Mlore team to market Mlores value proposition(Like how Namo was marketed) to the globe.
We have created enough bad branding for Mlore bcos of pub attacks and things like that and its high time we change it.
We have everything that is required for mlore to be a IT hub except for the political will.

Bring IT and you call it development ? Do you want Mangalore to become another Bangalore ? I love my Mangalore, I don't want to see it become like a Bangalore.
Lets just keep Mangalore simple and clean. This is what we needed. The last thing we need is invite outsiders to Mangalore in the name of IT and the true mangaloreins will be lost. Lets keep the IT thing to a minimum level and give more importance to the education side.

    Sri,

I made this statement in response to our MP's comment that he will get more IT parks to mlore. There are already 3 IT parks available which are underutilized.
And for me any eco friendly sector that generates more job is welcome.Blore infrastructure is badly planned, i agree with you on that. But what blore has done to lakhs of middleclass families working in the IT sector in india is just incredible.
And hey who is a outsider in our country? I thought INDIA FIRST and all indians are free to work and live anywhere in india.

Mr.Nalin Kumar Kateel visited Kateel his fathers native place and offered paryers at SDPTemple before filing nomination for election.
Just before filing nomination BJP DK Unit president Sri Pratap Simha Nayak personally applied Sree Gandha Prasada(chandana) from his favourite temple on the forhead of Nalin Kumar as a elder braother doi8ng the act for his younger brother. If one has seen the snap in papers he will understand the feelings of Nayak towards Nalin.Pratap Simaha Nayak was President of BJP DK unit in 2009 also when Nalin first time stood and won the election. This time Namo Naresh Shenoy and Co arranged a an audience with Sree Samyendra Theertha Swamiji at Mangalore wherein Nalin was lucky to received the blessings from sre Kashi Mutt Swamiji.Again Janardhana Poojary's cheap talk with loose tongue immensely helped Nalin to gain popularity apart from Modi wave sweeping in Mangalore too in great speed made Nalins victory a cake walk breaking all time records of victory in the constituency pushing Poojary for a new unbeatable record of 5 time looser in in consecutively in MP election from Mangalore......It is truely said man proposes...and god disposes.....

India pronounced its final verdict - giving nod to right wing politics. Saffron deserves congratulations for showing people another technique to capture imagination n votes of people by coupling hindutva agenda with development package. RSS/BJP successfully used media n technology to its advantage. People believed what Modi n BJP kept yelling - " Yek Bharat Shrest Bharat ( means ALL JOIN RSS/VHP)", " Sabka vikas" etc. mantras. Now that Modi will be PM of India, we all will experience what double standards of BJP/Modi will unfold with time. One major benefit of verdict for modi is - people disapproved dynasty politics of Gandhi family n arrogance of power enjoyed in closed doors by individuals from congress. An alternative to congress has emerged in the form of BJP, but all power will be with single person - Modi, he can make or break India. We still need an alternative to BJP as well. AAP is not an answer so far, we still are in search of trust-worthy, sustainable alternative who will truly work of people of India. Lets congratulate Modi for rising to the top from very humble beginnings. One has to admire fighting spirit of Modi to overcome all major hurdles. Modis' rise witnessed deliberate elimination of lives of Indians but that is the price citizens had to pay for rise of Modi.

Fortunately Dakshina Kannada elects an MP ( who faces serious infidelity allegation) from BJP and same party forms government at center, which is really a welcome sign. Mangalore can benefit a lot from having an MP from ruling party. More funds, more developmental projects to Mangalore. Irrespective of party, we want peace n development n employment to people of Mangalore. Let BJPwallahs feel n enjoy victory (against whom ? citizens of India ?) Good luk to Narendra Damodar Modiji in leading India to shrest bharath. Hope Janardhanna Poojary retires from active politics and gives chance to able candidates in future.

Dear Nalin Kumarji, Congratulations. The people of Mangalore have given you a second chance this time. Kindly focus on
    - 24x7 electricity. By using alternate sources of energy such as Solar, Wind and Water or even nuclear.
    - Better roads with streetlights, thermoplastic road marking paint at pedestrian crossing and footpaths.
    - Better facilities at the Government schools and colleges. Ensuring 100% literacy.
    - Planting more trees within the city and smaller plants on the terraces of houses/buildings.
    - Better traffic management system with dynamic traffic lights.
    - More stations for Fire Brigade and Ambulance for effective disaster management & recovery.
    - Initiatives to bridge the gap between government, people and police.
    - We have a very low rate of IAS/IPS/IFS officers emerging from this district. Thus, free coaching centres for the meritorious students preparing for the UPSC examinations.
    - Ensure safety for women and students with a dedicated cell/helpline.
    - Better waste disposal management, Recycle and reuse concept in for better management of resources and conserving the River Nethravathi and Gurpur. .
    - Civic sense awareness – prohibiting spitting/urinating/littering in the city.
    - Keeping public restrooms clean and increasing the number of public restrooms.
    - Ban air horns and honking specially close to the hospitals, schools and residential areas.
    - Heavy load trucks should always drive on the left side of the road.
    - Better Bus stops, railway station and airport to match international standards.

Looking forward for a cleaner, greener and friendlier Mangalore.

This was a 'Modi-fied' election and Mr.BJP lost the moment he said modi is his opponent in M'lore. Also personal remarks against NKK & Modi didn't help.

It will be great if he spells out his vision for DK. I think he should strive to finish off this underworld extortion and crimes that are spreading in DK which are affecting even common businessmen. Also, many of these senes, pfi etc etc should be brought under control so that they dont engage in acts of vandalism. Complete the roads that are languishing for years now. Promote fishing, tourism, agriculture. Instead of spending money on stupid projects that are not sustainable like beautifying a road by laying interlock and within two days some company digging it up - spend on building lasting infrastructure.
