Mangalore, May 15: Gangadhar Pangala, a senior Congress party worker, died in a hit-and-run accident at Baikampady in the small hours of Thursday May 15. He was 55.

It is said at around 12.30 am, Gangadhar Pangala was returning by two-wheeler from Muloor when an unidentified vehicle hit him and sped away. Gangadhar died on the spot.

Police sources said that there is no information yet on the vehicle that hit Gangadhar's two-wheeler, but investigations are on to find the culprit.

The body was shifted to AJ Hospital and then to the mortuary after post-mortem.

Gangadhar was a senior party worker of the Congress and a leader of the Mogaveera community. He worked for welfare of the community and recently had even got a government grant of Rs 10 lac for Mogaveera schools, sources said. He was also a social activist.

Gangadhar is survived by his wife and five daughters, all of whom are married. The family resides in Baikampady.

However, the family believes that it was not a case of accident but a pre-planned murder. Speaking to daijiworld, Gangadhar's son-in-law Yadav Chitran said that they plan to file a murder complaint, but have no suspicion on any particular individual.

Panambur police have registered a case.

Lot of hit and run cases taking place. Traffic police must install CCTV on highway and there shall be 24x7 recording. In tragic Delhi Nirbhaya rape, murder case culprits identified with the help of CCTV footage. Initially bus was identified and then police nabbed all criminals.

This can never be a Accident, This is planned murder, the place where the accident took place is very very isolated area, even during day time hardly any vehicles move around, and road is very broad and in good condition, At night time in this road hardly u can see vehicles moving around. So it can never be an accident. Thorough investigation required. Hope police will succeed in catching the murderer...
