Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, May 15: Six members of a gang have been arrested for allegedly blackmailing a man after clicking his nude pictures and threatening to upload them in social media if he did not pay them Rs 20 lac.

It is learnt that Sandeep (27), Bhagwandas alias Das (31), Gration D'Souza (26), Esha Kumar (33), Shyleswh Bangera (33) and Vijendra (35) from Bajjodi in Bikarnakatte Mangalore, have been arrested in this connection.

The gang had reportedly blackmailed Brijesh Y J from Yellur near Padubidri in the district to part with about Rs 20 lac over a period of time. The gang, which claimed it was in possession of nude pictures of Brijesh, which had allegedly been clicked when the latter was in drunken stupor. The gang members reportedly threatened to publish nude photographs of Brijesh in newspapers and social websites if he failed to meet their demand for money. Brijesh, who was very much worried about sullying of his image, wilted under duress and met their repeated demands, it is gathered.

The personnel of Padubidri police station, acting under the directions of the district superintendent of police and additional superintendent of police, have arrested six members of the said gang, and recovered from them Rs 25,000 they had recently collected from Brijesh, in addition to a Tata Indica car used for the crime, as well as cell phones. Padubidri station in charge, Rakshit Gowda, said that the police have already drawn up a plan of action to nab the remaining four members of the gang.

Brijesh said in his complaint that he had left Mangalore a year back, having been upset and fed up by these escapades, and started working in the jewellery shop run by his father at Yellur thereafter. However, the criminals got information about his whereabouts and called him over phone and threatened to expose his photographs if he failed to meet their demand for money, he explained.

I wish Mangalore turns back how it was 15 years ago. Scared to read newspapers these days, its full of accidents, rapes, frauds, robberies, gold smuggling etc etc.....
Person once who gets the taste of easy money will look for different alternatives. That is when these ideas get generated. Thanks to today's media effect on youngsters, crime petrol, CID. You shouldn't be surprised if i say incidents what they show occur after they release on TV episode.

This is a new trick to make easy money.

The incident is not different than that of one taken place in Derlakatte some months back.

Lock these anti social elements in dark cells of a jail till they are fully straightened.

Imagine, what you said, to make them hard work to clean the dirty places. You need to tie them up with chains, or else they will escape from the place. If you tie them how they will work? Let us assume you keep a security of ten policemen to make sure that they will not escape, then who will pay the salary for these security men? And If you made them hard work, social and human right groups will appear and make big drama. So it is better not to comment for the sake of commenting.

Dear Ryan, two things we need to understand here, firstly, 10 Policemen required as per your assumption may not be new recruitment, so as it is these security personnel will get the salary since they have been appointed earlier and there is no question of spending extra money here. Secondly, social and human right groups always comes to the help of convicts or accused only, so there is no need to listen to them. Some time they are so biased that they even ashamed common public without any hesitation. For example, during pub attack in Mangalore so many NGOs, Vedikes, Mahila Mandals, etc camped in Mangalore region whereas in Manipal rape case no such Organizations came forward to condemn the issue. So, it’s not right to condemn those who are writing comments with their own ideology

Hi Sachidanand, I agree your points. But my view is directly practical. I heard, during olden days, there were many African slaves, working in America. They used to bring them in a group and tie them or keep security around them (same thing happening in Gold mines in Africa). Imagine if you made them work in our public place, all the public will surround them as if a something circus is going on there. These criminals need to treated as per law. Or keep them in the dark room where they will suffer more that they suffer by doing hard work.

These kinds of incidents were limited to Mangalore region earlier but now slowly it is spreading to other region too. So, one can understand the situation of Law & Order situation in our State especially in coastal region

Wow what a world, free way of making money, if no action is taken, then you will have some more new ideas of making money with easy go lucky life. Instead of keeping them in jail and wasting time, please give them hard labour for 3 years to clean up all the dirty places in Mangalore, if they dont clean, then beat them up.
