Mangalore, May 13: Flavy D'Souza has become the first lady to be elected president of Catholic Sabha in its 35-year history.
The 35th annual general meeting of Catholic Sabha was held on May 11 at Bishop's House here.
Nigel Pereira presided over the meeting.
In the afternoon, the elections for the term of 2014-15 were held and for the first time in its history of 35 years, a lady, Flavy D'Souza was elected president.
Other elected office-bearers were Valarian D'Souza - president designate, Anil Lobo - vice-president, Victor Vas - secretary general , Walter Monis - joint secretary, and Julia Crasta - treasurer, Lancy Pinto - joint treasurer.
Fr J B Crasta, spiritual director, and past presidents Gerald D'Costa and L J Fernandes were present. The election process was conductd by Lancy D'Cunha, past president and NVP of All India Catholic Union.
