Sullia, May 10: In a shocking incident, four persons of a family including children were found dead in a lodge at Subrahmanya here on Saturday May 10.
The deceased have been identified as Nanjudayya (45), his wife Jayalakshmi (39) and their children Srilakshmi (13) and Pavan (16).
They are said to be residents of Rajajinagar, Bangalore.
It is said that they committed suicide, but the exact reason for taking the extreme step is not yet known.
It is said that the family had come to Subrahmanya on Wednesday May 7 and booked a room on the fourth floor of SLR lodge. CCTV images revealed that at the time of entering the lodge, Nanjudayya had applied ash on his forehead and that his wife and son carried two bags.
On Wednesday they visited a temple and returned to their room. They did not come out of the room thereafter.
On Sunday, the room boy while passing by their room sensed a foul smell emanating from it and immediately informed the lodge owner. As the door was locked from the inside, the owner looked into the room from a window and saw lifeless bodies of the four on the bed. It is suspected that they might have consumed poison.
The light in the bathroom was on, and there were some clothes hung up to dry. It is surmised that they might have died on Wednesday night or Thursday.
On being informed, their relatives in Bangalore immediately left for Subrahmanya.
Subrahmanya police arrived at the spot. Police said that the door of the room would be opened only after the arrival of the relatives of the deceased.
