Mangalore: Overcoming all odds, Ravikiran shines in PU exams

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (DV)

Mangalore, May 9: Ravikiran, who secured 548 marks in PUC examination by attending evening college and working during the day at a petrol bunk in Falnir, is the epitome of success through hard work.

Ravikiran, who hails from Harekala Pavoor, discontinued his education at Sri Ramakrishna School after his SSLC. Due to the poor economic condition of his family, he could not complete his higher education. So, he joined the petrol bunk. Although he discontinued his education, a year later he decided to go ahead with his studies at St Aloysius Evening PU College.

Proud of his hard work, Ravikiran says, “Anything can be achieved through hard work and confidence.” He has been working at the petrol bunk for the past three years from 9 am to 4:30 pm. At 5.00 pm, he would attend the evening college for his PU classes. Till 8.30 pm, he would be at the College striving to achieve his goals.

Ravikiran also said that he would not get time to study for his exams and hence, took one week’s leave to prepare for it. Usually, after class, when he returned home, it would be too late to study. But, his determination to reach his goal was firm.

He also dreams of completing his MBA in a similar manner by attending evening college. Let us wish Ravikiran all success.

St Aloysius Evening PU College has a golden history of 47 years and is the only evening PU college in Dakshina Kannada district. St Aloysius Evening PU College provides the privilege of education to socio-economically backward students, who otherwise would be deprived of facilities of formal education. The college encourages the students to enrich themselves academically and discover their other talents in extra-curricular activities. The management and staff of St Aloysius Evening PU College guide and support students to form persons into men and women of competence, compassion, conscience and commitment.

Among the college toppers, apart from Ravikiran, Priya Shanthi Crasta (508), Dinith (497), Kishore Kumar (446) have secured highest in commerce and Priya Jasmine Lasrado (397) has secured highest in Arts.

St Aloysius Evening P U College has secured an overall percentage of 91% with one distinction, 9 first class, 15 second class and 12 third class.

I do not believe that students are lazy..its just the lack of interest towards studies which they make up for it bu showing interest in other fields like art, sports etc..God has blessed each student with a talent. Students who are not so good in studies will surely excel in some other field. So cliify please show some sensitivity while commenting as this point of time is very stressful for many students.

Well done Ravikiran... How many brainy and committed children our Country must have lost over the past 65 years. These are the future Employment Generators, because they know the ground reality. Where are those forces who always fight for cattle and sheep, when human beings like these are deprived from educational opportunities. India must change and to change India, Indians must understand their priorities for our future generations. At least now things must change at the ground level, then only India can change. First Step creates effluent opportunities and stop migration of professionals, whom India must preserve..... Jai Hind...
